Subject:   Navy Seal Killed in Afghanistan

It has just been revealed that a Navy Seal was killed in the rescue of an American doctor that was kidnapped in Afghanistan. I seem to remember that during the Bengazi attack that when Defense Secretary Panetta was asked about why we allowed several hours to transpire without providing any military response to the overrun consulate, he responded about the need to evaluate the risk involved in placing more people in "harms way" by providing the backup help so desperately  needed by our Ambassador and others in the compound.  I agree that tough decisions must be made when "life" or "death" situations arise, but whose lives do we sacrifice when decisions like these must be made.

Obama would be my first choice, followed by all who 'worship' him.

If Americans are in trouble and need military support the first question TOTUS and his minions ask is not how best can we help them. It is how will this impact us politically. I can assure you when the Benghazi situation was on the table they decided against help because: a) it would demonstrate the lie that is the administrations mideast policy (i.e., all we are getting from the so-called Arab spring is a resurgence in Islamofascist control of governments in countries like Egypt and Libya); and b) SOS Billary I am sure pointed out what a disaster Black Hawk Down was for Slick Willie (remember the line, "Washington in all their infinite wisdom did not approve the Specter gunships....too high a profile) and we simply can't risk a foreign policy disaster right before the election. And I am sure they took great comfort in the fact that the govt media would provide them with all the cover in the world as they must protect our first affirmative action president and their beloved Billary. So there is your answer. No potential political fallout.....sacrifice a Seal any day, heck, make it two or three....what do we care? Political downside? Let em die........ That's what Americans voted for in 2008 so they could feel good about themselves and in 2012 so they could keep their "free" goodies.

Your response provided excellent insight on this matter. As a retired military officer, it just leaves me with a sick and empty feeling when our military heroes sacrifice themselves for their fellow Americans and our great country. One can not begin to feel the pain the families of our soldiers must endure with the loss of their love ones. We can never do enough to recognize the debt we owe to our military for the sacrifices they make in defending our nation.

Seals, Rangers, Special Forces of all colors volunteer to stand at the sharp end of the stick, in all situations. They train for it. They live for it. And, inevitably too many die for it.

Why they continue to come forward and make this sacrifice for this nation is amazing to me. They sacrifice a normal family life, financial security and many other treasured ideals. And, they come home to a nation that for the most part does not give a royal crap if they live or die,,,,, just as long as it doesn't cost me something or it inconveniences me in some way.

Go get them Ranger!! We got your back!!
