i am interested but, if Charter doesnt support it would it still work. i read on a forum where you may have to have some type of card plugged in from Charter...

Yes but you must understand TiVo. You would need to subscribe to the Tivo monthly service and pay monthly to Tivo. With this unit you could receive cable analog and digital signals but no premium channels without the use of a Charter box. So most people would just rent a DVR from Charter. My family loves Tivo and we have two in our home but they are a more advanced unit than this one.

I just want to be able to record a few shows. Probably could do the same thing with a VCR but, just thought this would be cool.

i have had one since they first hit the market. Love it. BUT without a monthly subscription it is a paperweight. Cannot manually record anything without it.
