Buy a real gun instead.  Some caliber that ends in MAGNUM.  See link below

38 is not bad, but its like cubic inches for engines, there's no replacement for caliber and knockdown power!! She was also probably using metal jackets.

Too bad this will not make national news.  Interesting the MSM high-lighted the Colorado shooting the other day but didn't say anything about how many were shot/killed in Chicago or Detroit over the weekend.

Well, that Pea Shooter protected her and her children pretty well,, Huh? She put 5 out of 6 on target. Good for her.
It did the job.

This mother was very lucky the perp did not have a gun, because he would have probably gotten off the second shot and the story would have ended tragically. The guy was shot in the face and neck FIVE times and was able to seek help next door--that's not acceptable of the firearm. The lady did a fantastic job with the situation, but she should have been able to end the confrontation with one shot.. Wonder how many forum members depend on 22's, 25's, 380's, 38's, 9mm's, etc for the protection of their families?

Not sure I totally agree..  Have all of the above, with a couple of exceptions..  Whatever works is my point.  My wife is dot comfortable with the .45 ACP.  The 9mm, with an appropriate round, should serve the purpose..  Guess the same could apply to a .22 mag hollow point??  better than a broom..

Heck, put on target a .22 short would do the job.  The bigger the round, the less accurate one needs to be - even an arm shot with a .45 ACP JHP +p would get the attacker's attention and make him wonder where the next one is going.

My wife carries a .22 WMR in her purse that is smaller than a cigarette pack.  Tiny package but enough gumption to at least make a perp think twice, and at most send him to a cold room with a tag on his big toe.  I carry a Kahr PM-9 (9 mm) with +p jhp.  Not as much wallop as a .45 but very lethal, put any where close to the target.

The NRA doesn't assemble stories like this and run them in ads. I'll be there are lots of them.

They do, in their monthly magazine "American Rifleman".  Its in a section called "The Armed Citizen".

Unfortunately unless you are an NRA member or visit their on-line version, you wouldn't see it.  They need to figure out how to get it more exposure,

Ain't exactly the MSM's idea of a newsworthy story. They'd rather report on democrats shooting Americans.

I agree.  I can't imagine anyone walking away with 5 hollow point 45's from my gun in their face and neck....heck, I am not even sure they would walk away with one in that part of the body.

As for the burglar having a gun, I suspect she did as she was told in training, point, aim and empty the clip.  Five shots can go pretty quickly and I bet he was totally surprised.

Anyone want to take a bet how long it is before this guy sues her?

As for the media coverage, look how the shooting in San Antonio was embargoed by the govt media.  And there was one other recently as well where a massacre was foiled by a well armed citizenry.  Doesn't fit the left wing agenda of the media.  They are too busy publishing the names and addresses of law abiding citizens with guns.

Have to wonder what parts of the face and neck were hit - even my little .380 would influence someone if it hit grey matter.  Could be that this guy's target area was too small to hit...  Do agree that the 230 grain .45 pills would be more likely to solve the issue quickly, but there are times that a 12 oz equalizer can go that a 25 oz .45 can't.  You know the old saying - "don't JUST take a knife to a gunfight".

Just curious to know how many of our forum readers really know the origin of the term "peashooter"? Thought it might be interesting to see how many  "oldtimers"  we actually have on the forum. Depending on the response, I might show my age by revealing my first encounter with a "peashooter".
