Don't laugh..big deal going on in Montgomery. Author of Forrest Gump is there too. Personally I think we should observe my other 2 favorite generals Stonewall Jackson and Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Stonewall's birthday is celebrated today also in some states...Virginia, I think. Forrest surrendered in Gainesville, AL, but as you know has been has been slammed for his supposed connection to a "subversive group".

He was a pretty resolute guy and probably the best calvary commander ever. There were lots of "subversives" left after the war but Lee nipped that in the bud. Last thing the south needed was a vietnam style guerilla war.
