The liberal article assumes the demorats run a black in every race from now till 2060, which ain't likely. Blacks only get excited when they can vote for someone in their own image. My guess is more stupid white demorats will wake up and realise they're being duped by the minorities and they will grow out of their "pity" voting. The likes of the Jane Fonda/Hillary crowd will begin to die off and disaffected whites will bail when they grow up and realise they're country. Which group do you identify with?

and why did that "new Hispanic demographic" come to this country in the first place? Escape the loss of freedom in their country, failed socialist governments, high unemployment .... and what is happening to this country? Loss of freedoms, bigger government, high unemployment and a hard push by the disaster in chief trying to move to socialism.
I believe Hispanics are hard working people and that demographic will move to the GOP. But the GOP will continue to only get 5-7% of the black vote, for the opposite reason Hispanics will move to the GOP.

So you just know that blacks would turn out in the same numbers to vote for a white democrat presidential candidate as they did for o-BAMA. Check the demographic voting records and turn out records for blacks over the past 20 years and you'll see that blacks only vote in large volumes for blacks. Wait till J.J., Jr. gets out of jail and the demorats put him up for president, then you'll see a big turn out. Seems you don't like my "groups". Note that I wasn't the one that made the group comparisons, the author was. No matter how the liberals want to blend races, thugs, criminals, lawyers, misfits, homosexuals, atheists, welfare professionals, and other useless forms of humanity into a mindless, spineless bunch of sheep, otherwise known as Democrats, there will always be groups. Tell me WW, are you naïve enough to believe that Abe Lincoln would be a Republican if he were alive today (Teddy Roosevelt, Barry Goldwater or Ronald Reagan for that matter)? Sadly, the Great Emancipator would have very little in common with the party of Michelle Bachman. Thankfully, the southern Democrats of today have nothing in common with Bull Conner and Ross Barnett beyond calling themselves Democrats. That 'group" includes the vast majority of those "more intelligent blacks" that you reference.

The ONLY way to eliminate or reduce poverty is opportunities and growth, not handouts in the name of taking care of people. That ONLY keeps them down and continues the cycle for another generation.
For the billions spent on social programs for the poor ... do we have less or more poverty? There is your answer.

I am glad you, apparently unlike WIX, admire Lincoln...I assume that extends to his instituting the first income tax to fight a war...W could have taken a lesson from his Republican predecessor there. Of course W did learn from Lincoln's un-constitutional suspension of Habeas-corpus. Interesting how there are 2 sides to all great men. Lots of you guys could learn something from that fact!

All this back and forth about Lincoln and whether he would or would not identify with the GOP or Democrats is a waste of time. If you have read about Lincoln you would know that his embracing emancipation was done primarily to maintain the support of the abolitionists in the war against the south. He was no ideologue when it came to slavery like Wilberforce but he was practical and saw abolition as the wedge to maintain support for the war and in that regard he was right. Regardless of that, the end of slavery was indeed a very good thing, however, I would note that slavery was abolished in other parts of the civilized world without a civil war but maybe our situation was unique (i.e., the south's agriculture economy was reliant on slavery). Lincoln was devoted to keeping the United States united and on that score he could identify with either party today.
Why do I think he was an awful President? Because he more than any other President before him created the notion of an overarching federal government whose powers were no longer limited and no longer only those not reserved for the states. Also, his conduct during the war (i.e., suspending habeas corpus to silence opposition in the north) and other imperial actions also changed the nature of the presidency. And both those paved the way for an FDR that turned a mild worldwide depression into a Great Depression in the U.S. Which paved the way for Johnson's failed war on poverty. Which paved the way for Obamacare et al.
So Lincoln was an awful President that turned out to do something very good. But to assume the civil war was the only way to end slavery is wrong. But it is what it is. But what I find so ironic is what drove us apart in the 1860's was both a good thing, states rights, and a bad thing, slavery. What is driving us apart today is once again states rights (still a good thing), and a drive toward European-style socialism, a very bad thing. And like the 1860's, the Democrat party is once again on the wrong side of history.

It is easy to prove I am right ... Johnson declared a war on poverty ... is poverty gone? Do we have more or less on food stamps. Is the percent of people living in poverty higher or lower today? The facts are clear ... the more we add social programs, the more people just depend on government rather than become self sufficient.
And you may be surprised that I do not feel all social programs are bad ... but I do believe there should be a time limit and a work requirement / community service for any government aid. Additionally, there should be a 2 child limit for any welfare program to discourage baby factories as a way to increase government aide.
