My wife and I have been traveling from southern IL to NM and back to southern IL for the last 5 months.  One question that has come to mind is, "What has obama done for our country?"  I was asked that question in Texas on out the outward bound leg of our journey.  I don't have a good answer, can someone please give me a really good answer?

They had to die because to have come to their aid would have hurt TOTUS' reelection bid because it would have proved the lie that is his middle east policy. I am sure Oblamer in his heart of hearts believes they died for a greater cause than the value of their measly lives.....his continued ability to go on $3 million golf outings at our expense. The wives, children, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters should all be grateful for their heroic sacrifice that allowed Michelle to give out an academy award and quit their self centered whining and moaning and looking for the truth. The cause is greater than any one person......well, except TOTUS......

Tragically 5000 American soldiers, more than 9000 American men and women working for private companies under contract to the US military, US government or Iraqi government, and anywhere between 75,000 and 250,000 innocent Iraqi civilians died in Iraq because of flawed policy, intentionally cherry picked intelligence, and the wrong headedness and dangerous pride of a few powerful men plus one woman (and I'm not including W here...he was just a pawn) in Washington.  4 Americans tragically died in Bengazi because of poor planning and screwed up communications .  Now if you and the other nuts on this forum see equivalence there...well you are stupid and I'll pray for you at church later this morning.

Does some of the policy you are pointing out fall into the sequester lie that has been floating about in front of the American people?  I don't think I have to point out who lied and when to you.

I don't think we need to get into a pizzing contest on which and when politicians lie. Some lies are more costly than others.

Alchitect, The only stupid one making these worthless claims is you. You post alot of crap that you then try to back up with more of the same. Just gets old really even reading all the bull. I mostly just turn it off but then feel sorry for you trying to convince yourself of the bull you think maybe someone may believe a small portion of. Then you start calling names when I make one little observation of a post you started. Names don't hurt but sticks and stones do.

Is that a threat!!?  You, as so often is the case with the nuts on this forum, make my day.  Hey man, spit out the Kool Aide, take off the blinders, get your head out of the sand, wake up and smell the coffee...you and your fellow travelers are being duped by FAUX news, Lush Windbag and the other shepherds of the extreme right. The truth hurts!

PS:  Please point out the any part of my post (other than saying you are stupid) that you consider "crap" and explain why it is so.

Archie, remember all your Democrat heroes in the Senate that voted for the Iraq War. They too are equally responsible as many of them, including Hillary, looked at the very same intelligence that the Bush administration relied on and came to the same conclusion. And a bipartisan commission thoroughly examined the allegations you have repeated and concluded that they were false. That you still believe and are repeating a lie is very sad. And thanks for your prayers!

Alchitech, about all you post is chit but you are the one that's got your head up your tail end and will not have a open mind about anything that doesn't support Oblamer or his administration. I watch many different news stations and I can say that the left is sadly uninformed with the serious news of today. Cover up or just don't report is the lefts way, that is why I do watch them but do see the truth for myself. I will say that Fox is the best at keeping it as real to the truth as any out there. I know you won't have it so you just start calling names because you get flustered due to you having no credibility and most on the forum with the exception of one or two of your boy Friends just think your sad. You can pray for me if you like but a prayer for yourself wouldn't hurt either. I will even say one for you to keep a open mind and stop calling people names when you can't get your way. If you can't post anything good about one of your fellow forum members just keep your post to your self.

MM I say pox on Hillary and all senators who supported the war. To be sure they had the same cherry picked intelligence but also some very good questions raised by a few who questioned the intelligence. They forged ahead anyway to plunge us into a war of choice which cost dearly in life and treasure. I do not consider that I am repeating a lie. There may not be a smoking gun on the cooked intelligence but there sure were and are a lot of questions which have not been answered. I think you need to take another look at the conclusions of the bi-partisan committee. True, no smoking gun but they certainly did not go so far as complete absolution of Cheney, Wolwitz, and the neo-conservative hawks. They also never got to the investigation of the Downing Street Memo (the smoking gun??) in the 2d installment of the investigation as promised in the next congress. I may be wrong but think I recall correctly that the GOP narrowly retook the senate and the 2d installment of the investigation for all practical purposes never happened.

I know you believe what you believe and by no means are you alone.  But there is no evidence for what you believe and what drives this is a visceral hatred of Cheney and the neocons.  I put that belief of what is untrue in the same category as the birthers and 911 conspiracy nuts.

But I do appreciate your intellectual honesty about the congressional approval of the war in Iraq.  But unlike you, I believe the Bush administration and those in the Senate and House that approved the removal of Saddam by force believed at the time that they were fulfilling their obligation to protect and defend our national and international interests.  You clearly do not and that is fine, but it is not evidentiary based, it is emotional and driven by hatred.  I simply prefer logic and reason.

I can tell you in all honesty that I do not hate any living American that I can think of, but Dick Cheney is absolutely among my 10 least admired individuals.  As to whether the Iraq war was entered into honestly and whether it was a worthwhile endeavor will be decided by history...for now we will just have to disagree.

OK, I'll take your word for that on your dislike of Cheney. But there is really nothing to agree or disagree on about the intelligence unless you have some facts that the bipartisan commission didn't have, otherwise it is a matter of whether you believe what is true or you believe a lie. I believe the truth and we will have to agree to disagree on the motivation of all involved in the decision to invade Iraq. That point is clearly open to debate.

I end my efforts on this subject for now with this.... you and I are not alone in proclaiming as true what we believe to be "the truth".  What is considered almost universally to be "the truth"  on occasion ends up being something else..."There can be no doubt the Saddam Hussain possesses weapons of mass destruction." Vice President Dick Cheney along with many others before it became obvious that it was untrue.

That was Cheney's opinion based on the the intelligence he had available and it was shared by a pretty much everyone that looked at that same intelligence, Dem and GOP.  But remember Archie, Saddam used weapons of mass destruction against the Kurds.  That is a fact that no one disputes.  So Saddam had WMD, he used WMD and the real question is what he did with them in the months leading up to the Iraq war after he booted the inspectors. Methinks they will be found sometime in the future in the Syrian desert but that is pure conjecture on my part.

And this is not directed at either side of this current discussion. I see people saying "the intelligence said this" or "the intelligence said that", when, frankly nobody commenting on it has a clue as to what the intelligence really is. To know that a person has to have a security clearance that is higher than high, and part of getting such a clearance includes promising not to divulge it. Divulging it brings on criminal sanctions....and that is why Bradley Manning is being prosecuted right now. Intelligence is classified to such a high level because we don't want our adversaries to know how much we know, and in particular, how we found out. There are all kinds of games being played between adversaries every day. An example is Cover and Deception. Just think about those two words, and then think about what the general public is being told. During my time in uniform I was exposed to some fairly highly classified information and saw some interesting things happen. Won't (can't) go into any detail but (at least up to this current administration) what I saw gave me no reason to believe the information was being misused. What I am seeing as a constant modus operandi in the current administration though, leads me to believe Obama and his henchmen might possibly mis-use intelligence for political gain. Everything I have seen them do considers politics first and what is best for the country a distant second. I pray that I am wrong on them mis-using intel.

I seem to recall that some 7000 Kurdish men, women and children died in Northern Iraq while Saddam ruled..  Do I have this wrong??  I know for a fact that our predeployment processing for Desert Shield/Storm included a number of mystery innoculations for potentially bad stuff we might encounter in combat and chemical warfare training was a big deal..  ..

You are trying to use logic and reason on an illogical and unreasonable person. I am comfortable that I don't know what I don't know. Wouldn't do any good to be uncomfortable with it anyway. The Serenity Prayer applies.
