legislation in the Senate. As I understand their effort, it would require that even firearm sales between individuals be documented by the seller and archived by a government agency?? This covers gun show participants as well.
That, folks means that the government is in a position to create a gun registry which at some future time could be used to confiscate guns.
The POTUS has explained that confiscation is not going to happen. Sure makes me feel better. No wonder the gun stores are sold out.

"Universal" background checks would also mean that when you decide to hand down Grandpa's single shot shotgun to your child, or your siblings, you have to get a background check on them. BTW, background checks are mandatory for all sales through a Federal Firearms Licensee, whether the sale is conducted at his place of business, an gun show, or in a parking lot. Mack is correct that this gives a paper trail for when they decide to round up all the firearms. If they want to do something meaningful that will actually impact illegal gun purchases, enforce the laws on the books today. I have seen people fail a background check and simply walk away. They tried to illegally obtain a firearm. Arrest and prosecute them!

Their ultimate goal being outright seizure you can bet that they have already started a database and realized that they would be only partially successful given the current requirements.
If there is anything I believe down to my inner core is that the goal here is total elimination of civilian ownership.
Believe what you will but the Department of Homeland Security's purchase of billions of rounds of ammunition and it's recent purchase of armored vehicles is all the hand writing on the wall that Stevie Wonder would need.
A sub title to all this is POTUS's move to be able to use armed drones against US citizens, but only overseas, but then almost immediately followed by discussions of using such a thing on American soil but only against an imminent attact,
sends chills up by spine. A promise or assurance from Washington is only as assuring as allowing a fox to watch a hen house.
