Well years ago when I went with others to the lake, we launched at Castaway.  Is there still a public ramp there?

Great!  Is this about my best bet coming from Montgomery area?  I used the ramp at Kowaliga last year but with all the boats coming by, it can be really rough especially if I am out by myself.

It is still a public ramp, but you better check with Anchor Bay about parking your trailer, last I heard they don't allow trailer parking.

Yeah, I remember the 2 steep ramps and a smaller ramp in the corner.  But if I cannot park here, where is another ramp close to this side of the lake, coming from Montgomery or Wetumpka?

We use Kowaliga ramp, it's all about timing, if you get there between 9.30 and 10.30am it is usually not that busy on the ramp or in the water, after 12 bring plenty of bumpers to protect your boat.....some people call them finders,,but I prefer "bumpers"

There are two on the Real Island side, Little Kowaliga and Cedar Grove that are non existent, to my knowledge. Not that this helps you out, but just don't go there expecting to find one. I would just stay with the one by the Kowaliga bridge.

I've been putting in there for three years now, and for a year I had my boat stored there. As of last year there was no parking fee, but parking is limited and the 'public' lot can get filled up on popular weekends. The folks at the Marina are as nice as they can be and they know who their customers are and try to find them a place to park even in the busiest of times.  The ramp is a little steep and tight to get your vehicle/trailer into, but my 18-footer does just fine.  Steepness of the ramp could be one reason that it never takes too long to launch or recover. Unlike the Bridge ramp the water is always calm and the location, location, location.
