Another GOP conservative resume enhancer. Have an affair, leave office, and run again. The party of hypocrites.
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford advanced Tuesday to a runoff in the Republican contest for an open congressional seat along the state’s southern coast, taking a step toward reviving a political career that was derailed by an extramarital affair while he was governor.
Tuesday was Sanford’s first political race since disappearing while governor in 2009 and then returning to admit an affair with an Argentine woman. They are now engaged.

How many times was he elected to assist run our country after proving he was unable to drive a prostitute across a bridge? This guy wasn't as good a Kennedy, he is still with his dalliance, Kennedy killed his.

Did this guy do something as vile as Ted Kennedy? I probably wouldn't have voted. In fact, I'm so disgusted with our political system, I may not vote again as long as I'm alive. Once I die, I'm sure one of the Illinois democrats will find a way to vote in my name for one of the politicians he supports. You being out of Atlanta, from what I read about that fair city, you can fully understand what I'm talking about.

Would be a resume enhancer. One thing I can tell you is I would never vote for him in a primary......not in a million years. But if he was the nominee for whatever office I would take a hard look at the Dem and if he was found wanting I would hold probably my nose and vote for him. Taking the lesser of two evils is what adults do.
But speaking of hypocrisy, why is it that you are so fixated on this? I thought if we learned one thing from Clinton and his Lewinsky's that this was just a personal matter. GF, you and Archie need to spend more time worrying about the plank in your own eye, we'll do our best to deal with our sliver, however imperfectly.

MM, all guys (and gals for that matter) of such ilk are moral midgets. My problem (fixation) is that each and every one of the GOP examples (Sanford, Foley, Vitter, Craig, Souder, Lukens, etc, etc) to a person established their career running on moral superiority. They are the pro-church, pro-family, pro-life, pro-prayer, anti-gay, anti-single mom, crusaders. The Democrats (Clinton, Weiner, Massa, Menendez(??), etc) did not based their campaigns on the "holier than thou" principle. I despise "fraud" in any person.

So what you are saying is you would prefer someone that is morally bankrupt in both their private and public life rather than someone that is morally upright in their public life and has personal failings in their private lives? As for me, I prefer the occasional hypocrite versus a life of immoral beliefs and actions. At least they have one thing right. But that is antithetical to the modern Democrat party as we saw with a convention in 2012 that seemed fixated on the right to murder babies.
But the truth of the matter is that their moral beliefs are only one aspect of their belief system that informed their role in government. The only reason it is even front and center in the first place is the left's and the govt media's (yes, I repeat myself) total fixation on sex and sexuality. It seems to be the primary issue in their lives and drives pretty much everything they think and do. Hence the abnormal fixation on the topic.

They aren't interested in those things, they only fixate on the personal failings of Republicans with regard to their sex lives. That is the source and summit of life to the left. All other forms of hypocrisy (i.e., Dems that call for higher taxes while refusing to pay their own, Dems that decry the rich while they cater to the rich for campaign contributions, Dems that fly to global warming conferences in private jets, Dems that call for the disarmament of law abiding citizens but want their security details to have guns, Dems that send their kids to schools with armed guards but want to prevent law-abding teachers from having a weapon and so on and so on and so on). The only hypocrisy that is important to them is sex related....hence the abnormal fixation........

I love the typical conservative justification for an affair. They compare and justify their behavior by bringing up Clinton and Kennedy....two scumbag liberals when it came to personal behavior. You guys need to just admit Sanford is indeed a scumbag. MM at least admitted he would not support him in the primary but maybe in an election. That I can accept as I voted for Clinton second term.
To suggest that an affair is a resume enhancer for a liberal but not a conservative is to be intellectually dishonest. Both parties vote for scumbags but the conservatives like the world to think GOP stands for Gods Only People. Suddenly, when faced with the truth that they have their share of scum, they run from the truth. The only fixation is the truth for that shall set thee free.

The rightwing nuts don't want to be free if it involves recognizing the truth. He//, most of these guys wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the fanny. They consider a Democrat who errs as a scumbag but his GOP counterpart is a noble child of God who has seen their error, asked forgiveness and been forgiven. I had an aunt who was married to a drunk. He would go on a bender, disappear for a week then show up Sunday morning at the alter of the Baptist church confessing his sins and asking forgiveness. He would have the entire congregation praising the Lord for leading him to the straight and narrow and forgiving his sins...2 weeks later he would be dead drunk again and on the outs without everybody until the next alter call. Does anybody really believe Sanford is any better?
