Just another in a long line of quarters of pathetic GDP growth for our affirmative action president. I await GF and Archie to tell us why we should be happy with the pathetic economic performance. I know, it could have been negative after four years of failed policies. It just amazes me the parallels with the failed policies and results of FDR. George Santanaya could not have said it any better......

A few facts:
1. The 4th qtr 2012 GDP was up a disappointing 0.4%...but that was an upward revision from the original estimated DECLINE of 0.1% and the poor performance is being largely blamed on Hurricane Sandy, concerns over the Fiscal Cliff and reduced military expenditures.
2. The 3d qtr 2012 GDP was revised upward from 2.7% to 3.1%
3. The 4th qtr 2008 DECLINE in GDP was 6.9%
4. Weekly unemployment insurance claims were up 16,000 but are less than half the numbers of exactly 4 years ago.
5. If a Republican had been sitting in the oval office for the last 4 years with the identical economic results, MM would be praising the recovery.
Now I breathlessly await for MM to once again revile me for being so willing to accept lowered expectations. The cup is half full and rising, slower than I would like, but it is rising in spite of everything the T party Republicans can do to knock it off the table.
BTW MM, I doubt you will have much luck destroying the legacy of FDR anywhere other than in the narrow minded vicinity of your Lake Martin Utopia. Now, what about Lincoln and TR?

there is no other way to slice it ... this is a weak recovery at best, this many years in to it. Why are you so willing to accept mediocrity? We should have been enjoying 4-5% growth for several years ... it is only Obama's failed policies to penalize success, of both individuals and business, cry for higher taxes, Obamacare, excessive, wasteful and out of control government spending, then crying that cuts in spending / borrowing less will somehow hurt the economy, while higher taxes are perfectly fine. Then there is the expansion of government social programs that add to the burden rather than growing the economy. Somehow Obama thinks that is doing good ... when creating opportunity is what is really good ... not keeping people down and dependent on government.
So you keep thinking we are on the right track ... just share with us what you are smoking.

Go back and look at your posts during the Bush years and tell me you haven't significantly lowered your expectations Archie. And I am not reviling you......I merely find it curious that you have such low expectations for our first African American president. Why is that? How come you don't hold him to the same standards as the white guy before him? I know I do and on almost every single score he has fallen woefully short as one would expect from a guy too stupid to learn from past mistakes of other awful presidents like FDR and Carter. Just very strange to me.......but you refuse to explain why which is very suspicious......what are you hiding anyway?!?

You see WW, you and I have the same expectations for Obama as we do for every president but for some reason Archie just doesn't ask for much out of Obama. He apparently thinks Obama needs a lower set of standards than all the white guys that preceded him.......I just don't get it and he won't explain.
6% unemployment under Bush was a disaster......not even needed for Obama as 11% is just fine
$160B annual deficits was the end of the world under Bush......over a trillion each year under Obama is hokey dokey
Running daily body count under Bush.........nary a concern about it under Obama
I could go on and on with the lowered standards for Obama........I mean, we all know how he got into Harvard but what is the explanation for Archie's lowered expectations?!? Just a mystery to me.......

I think we all(with the exception of Archie and Gonefishin) agree that Obama is doing exactly what he said he was going to do at the beginning of his first presidential campaign. He is transforming America. He told us to expect gas to go over $5.00/gallon, electricity rates to rise, and all the other idiotic things we see happening. We keep saying he is doing the exact opposite to what should be done to improve the economy. The sum of it all is that he knows exactly what he is doing and his every move intentionally leads to the deterioration of our country. He shows no concern for the poor other than to get as many of them as possible free benefits without showing any concern for improving their status or improving their quality of life. His numerous vacations, golf lessons with Tiger, closing the White House to our young school students(while allowing those who contribute $500,000.00 to his coffers to come and go as they please) is sickening to say the least. How anyone in the Presidency could resort to the approach he has taken to lead our country and still show his face to the American people is a travesty. I cannot fathom the thought of how we can have so many men and women in Congress who will not stand up and show their true concern for what we see happening to the United States of America. When and how do we stop this decay?
