Yes, on Monday my partner and I combined will be sending a cool half mil to the useless bureaucrats in DC. That cash could be used to create 20 high paying jobs but instead it will get pissed away on parties at the white House. And I can assure you this is way more than he and I take in salary. Such is life as a s-corp but we do avoid double taxation. By the way, if any of you liberal idiots want me to explain how my tax bill is higher than my salary I will be glad to explain...again. Let's see, this $500k won't be enough for the govt to create even one new job. 20 jobs making on avg $100k per year equals around $600k in taxes every year versus a one time $500k. This is why I hold liberals in such low regard. Because of their inane class envy they actually end up reducing revenue to the treasury....the opposite of what they profess, if only to punish the job creators.

They only post about once every two weeks as the govt media searches for some glimmer of joy in the midst of misery. Even the media is having a hard time finding something to celebrate about the job TOTUS is doing. They should all be shot for treason as they are doing more to be complicit in the destruction of our country than a ChiComm spy could ever do. Never again should they be trusted but we have the low information voter that will believe anything they see in the govt media between episodes of Jackass and Slutty Housewives of whatever city......
The last we got from Archie was so pathetic that even he refused to follow it up with more delusions. Its too early to tell if Oblamer's policies are going to work......sheesh! I mean, we already know the answer just by looking but why let economic facts get in the way of a good fantasy?!?!?

2 more months and you will be sunning yourself on one of your 6 water crafts as you speed around Lake Martin without a care in the world while you sip martinis and cook on your cool grill........... You are depressed every year around April 15th. Just look at it as your contribution to me and my ilk.
Do you plan to take your speedboat with you when you bail out? You may want to donate all your water crafts to charity before you depart. It would be a noble final gesture.

Ya know GF, you make some interesting suggestions. I will be spending more time on our wonderful lake in pristine watercraft, sipping Lemon Drops and Makers Mark Manhattans. But it won't be on weekends. It will be on weekdays where I used to spend my days treating individuals in need of my services. Waiting times to get to see me will be dramatically extended. I am worth the wait. I may consider to going to a cash basis practice. Charity cases will be a thing of the past. I will relinquish my volunteer teaching responsibilities in order to cast that rooster tail off a dock and land that fighting 3 pounder. The 50% who are supporting the other 50% WILL adjust their lifestyle as the target on our backs gets bigger and bigger. It's just that the 50% we support don't know what's comin' just around the corner...........and it ain't goin to be pretty.......

Sounds like you are getting burned out and need to do for yourself as you would prescribe for your patients. Admitting that you have issues is the first step to recovery. I think this summer would be a good time for you to try and redirect your life spending more time with your family and find time to smell the flowers. I know you are a strong individual and the fall will find you ready to again assume a full time schedule.
As to how you want to bill, that is a personal decision. If you want your legacy to be "He Was A Cash Only Doc", that is your business.

I fail to understand your point. Next time you go to the dentist, ask how his/hers income changed after dental coverage became available back in the 80s. Accepting insurance rather than only cash did wonders to increase the income for dentists. Docs who want to accept only cash fail to realize how the cash cow called insurance, for all its faults, has made them deservedly wealthy.

You see I am not in a position of having to choose between those two because I sacrificed to go to college, saved money, worked hard, took risks and am doing just fine. Its the losers in life that want the govt to take care of them that are the ones living in the car because govt can not and will not ever be able to do so regardless of which liar Democrat they vote for. But given the sorry state of our govt school education system they lack the critical thinking skills to figure that one out and they will continue with life on the Democrat plantation. And in the meantime I will eventually exit the taxpaying ranks and start extracting money still being paid by saps like you and Archie living life on the W2 train.

It is called capitalism. I assume the elasticity of demand for medical tretment for cash will determine the viability of the decision. To suggest a doc is a "shark" for accepting only cash is one you can determine. You don't need me to assist you.

Thanks for allowing me to have an opinion. You still haven't answered the implicit question in all this-but the connotations and tone of your statement does suggest a certain point of view.......
So what do you think about this? Has it come to the point that we assume doctors should work for whatever the government (i.e. insurance) will pay them? Or should they be able to set their own fees and bargain accordingly?

"More affluent areas" are soon to be a memory, and the intent of the current administration.
I think that the older doctors (who have lived in a world where their profession and work was esteemed) are going to bow out of insurance as the government compensation ( and private insurance follows the lead of Medicare) drops - (see Council Roc Doc)
I think the best and brightest of future generations will not choose to devote the time needed to pursue careers in medicine, as the time investment, and resultant lifestyle/compensation will not be worth the effort - especially when they could be community organizers, government employees, or permanent wards of the government with minimal effort. But those are the occupations that are of most benefit to the new world. It may not be important to keep people healthy for as long, either, as the very young (<16,) and the very old, (>50) will not be economically important to maintain - they will be more of a drain on society and so their obligation to do the "right thing" is to smile and suffer (and hopefully die.)
Still seems you resent a doctor that would dare to ask you to pay for their service though. Do you think healthcare is a Right?

Just for the record, most quality doctors do not accept Medicaid. Most accept Medicare because it represents a large portion of their income. Medicare pays much better than Medicaid and the docs don't have to hose out their waiting rooms every week.

As you age in practice GF, you work smarter, not harder. Reimbursement for procedures I perform are paid at barely 40% of what I charge by third parties. If my overhead is 50%, which is low, what do healthcare providers do? And don't say " but your number of patients increase", because the numbers still don't work. Many have gone to a cash only practice, charging a discount from their reasonable and customary, but certainly not accepting the paltry third party reimbursement. Only the very large groups will be able to survive on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and even then, only the younger practictioners and foreign graduates will be fed those patients. Too many individuals come to the conclusion that greed plays a part in healthcare providers business decisions, however, until and unless they live a day in our shoes, their opinions are stale and based on falsehood.
And BTW, healthcare providers legacies are never based on how they bill.........moreso on quality of care provided, benevolence, volunteerism, compassion, reliability and so on. I doubt that if I was forced to morph my practice into a cash only one, that my patient base and referral pattern would change much.
