Had a major repair done last year on a Yamaha 4stroke. I was prepared for the worst with all I had heard about Russell. But they were very fair and prompt considering it happened in the middle of busy season.

Have dealt with them numerous times for both. I consider them very professional and trustworthy. I use the Ridge Marina.

Russell does a very good job of catering to those customers who like to be catered to, if you get my drift.  Their storage facilities are full of boats owned by people who know little other than where the key switch is located.  Most can afford to be catered to, so they're happy.  From what I've heard they are short of good mechanics, which is not unusual on the lake.  High class operation, if you feel a need for high class.

Know nothing about Russell first hand. That being said, I suggest you give Steve Northington at Cathouse Performance Marine a call. Local guy, very responsible, forum advertiser and knows his stuff....definitely not a faceless enterprise like some of the bigger guys sometimes are.

Thats your right, but feel it was negative and founded on a pretty small sample size.

Signed up my granddaughter for wakeboard class and was best bang for the buck last summer.I buy my seadoo oil from them and is a good price.With that said I will be bringing my ski boat to cat for service the begining of may.Why you may ask?He's well known on this board and I prefer doing business with local small business owners.

The original poster asked for opinions of forum members about Russell Marinas, not for accolades about the marina. I gave as truthful a post as I could based on my personal experience of both sales, storage, and service of the company. I don't think it was negative, but it was truthful.

I was with friends one day and stopped in to look at inventory.  Three couples walked in and kinda went in three directions.  But one of the other guys went nuts over a deck boat.  He crawled all over the boat, even going so far as to lay down on the floor and slide under it to check out hull design.  After a few minutes I joined him on the boat.  He was ready to sign the check.  I mean he wanted that boat.  So after all had had a good look around and congregated back at the boat of interest his wife gave him the go ahead, she liked it too.  But after all six of us being on the showroom for abut 15 minutes and not one employee even acknowledging our presence he said to hell with it and we left.  Not one of us was ever acknowledged by any of the 7 employees we could see.  After we left he was glad we got shunned because he was about to make a 60K impulse buy. 

Form your own opinions from that story.  Apparently we weren't on "the list" .

Lifer, I had the identical experience that you described.  I wanted an inboard ski boat and had narrowed my search to  something in their inventory.  I went to their Kowaliga location ready to trade.  I walked in and went straight to the boat. I'm certain that I didn't look like a tire kicker....I was in, under and all over the boat for more than 15 minutes.  There were at least two well dressed sales people in the building and I made eye contact with one of them.  However, no one ever acknowledged me.  Frustrated and disappointed I left.  I wanted to do business with the Kowaliga location because my house is so close. However, I bought a boat somewhere else.
I've had a pleasant experience with their parts and service dept. They are knowledgeable and very helpful.  They have a beautiful showroom and a great inventory of boating supplies.  Other than my bad experience I've been very pleased doing business with them.

The only thing I can figure is that the sales staff must have fat salaries and could care less about being bothered with actually having to fill out some paperwork, notice I didn't even say sell anything, as it sounds in both cases that no "sales" need to be done.  The boats themselves had already done that.
