Word getting around about secret talks between Dems and some Republicans to exempt Congress and their staffs from Obamacare.  Sort of like the not so surprising fact that none of the airports around DC have had any air traffic controller furloughs.   And y'all on the left wonder why I despise the federal govt.........the smaller the better......

I have already notified my congressman that I will be royally PO'd if this goes anywhere and that Republicans are morons if they even get involved in this sickening effort.  Democrats own this disaster and they need to be punished for it...mightily.  The more this is implemented the more the low information voters, including Donna Brazile, realize that we would told a pack of lies and they stupidly did not listen.

I have a new rule for determining the real impact of legislation that comes out of congress.....read its name and assume the exact opposite will happen.

Congress has long exempted itself from OSHA, sexual harassment and almost all of the onerous laws they have imposed on we peons.
Never, never, never vote for an incumbent in the primary!

In response to reports that congressional leaders from both parties are seeking exemptions from Obamacare, Speaker John Boehner's spokesman released the following statement.

boehner

"The fact that Democratic leaders want to opt themselves out of the ObamaCare exchanges shows that Sen. Baucus isn't the only one who realizes the President's healthcare law is a 'train wreck.' The Speaker would like to see resolution of this problem, along with the other nightmares created by Washington Democrats' health law, which is why he supports full repeal. In the meantime, it is Democrats' problem to solve. He will not sneak any language into bills to solve it for them - and the Democratic leadership knows that," says spokesman Michael Steel.

That's the idea of secret talks......no one is supposed to know they are happening.  For sure most of the quotes I have seen about this burden on congress and their staff come from Democrats like Steney Hoyer but my natural skepticism is kicking in.  I hope this turns out to be a false and malicious rumor about the GOP even participating in these talks.

For the record this was Steele's first quote when asked about these alleged talks

“The speaker’s objective is to spare the entire country from the ravages of the president’s health care law. He is approached daily by American citizens, including members of Congress and staff, who want to be freed from its mandates. If the speaker has the opportunity to save anyone from Obamacare, he will.”

The last sentence is not exactly comforting is it?  The later statement was more direct and implied that he was not interested in anything other than repeal.

NOTE TO GF:  I have included a quotation.  That means this is what the speaker said as recorded by others.  A quote does not necessarily constitute a fact but may contain facts and factual information.  I know this confuses you in separating the meaning of a fact and a quote.

What is behind all the gossip............

"There is concern in some quarters that the provision requiring lawmakers and staffers to join the exchanges, if it isn’t revised, could lead to a “brain drain” on Capitol Hill, as several sources close to the talks put it.

The problem stems from whether members and aides set to enter the exchanges would have their health insurance premiums subsidized by their employer — in this case, the federal government. If not, aides and lawmakers in both parties fear that staffers — especially low-paid junior aides — could be hit with thousands of dollars in new health care costs, prompting them to seek jobs elsewhere. Older, more senior staffers could also retire or jump to the private sector rather than face a big financial penalty."

Sounds very reasonable and intelligent and similar to the experience of the private sector as a result of the devastating Obamacare.......this has to be a Republican who said this.  Dems only whine about how it will hurt them personally and how its not fair.......waaahhhhh.....we need a law to fix this.......waaaaahhhh

So, am I right?  Was it a Republican or some Democrat that will need a trip to the woodshed?
