I'm just going to say it.  I know you advertise and are back in the saddle. Glad to hear it. NOT glad to see multiple posts about what's for this n that, 20% off etc.  This is a Forum, not an advertising page. Ya got a real, real special, something not done but once in a blue moon, go ahead and alert us. Other than that, I don't care to see it. Nothing personal, but if you continue to do this, and others do the same, we have no forums, just a big ad.

mud--no disrespect intended, but as a member, can't anyone post what they want? I don't open every thread based on what does/does not interest me. I would reverse what you said and say if he can't post what he wants, we don't have a forum.

Frankly, I'd like to know what he has that might be out of the ordinary. Might well influence my, uh, our decision as to where we want to eat. Works for us, works for him. We get better eats and he gets our shekels. And this is a really strange post for you to lodge an objection. Just wish we were at the lake this weekend to take him up on his offer. You can always exercise your Iggy option if it bothers you that much.

Not my place to ignore him.  I haven't had the opportunity to eat there yet this year, but fondly remember very good service and meals when he first opened and look forward to more so again.  There are other more appropriate means to communicate  "specials" etc, ie Facebook, Twitter.  The Rodeo Club uses Facebook exclusively and communicates with numerous thousands on a routine basis. That is a much more appropriate means.

Can you really imagine going thru 60-70 posts to find just one you'd want to read. I do not think you have thought it out fully.  If every eatery, and other advertisers on this forum did as he is, you would no longer bother to read these forums.  You'd spend significant time just trying to find a "normal" post. And those who use smartphones ( I am one) you would quickly forget these forums or ignore each and every advertiser. How about all of the realtors and rental owners, etc.  Have you looked at those numbers?  That is why people like me respectfully request ad owners do not abuse these forums. Seems there is one each year.  We want to support both the advertisers and see Webbie (Bruce) do well.

I agree with Hodja....he is an advertiser. I would have an objection for Bruce's sake if he wasn't, but since he helps pay for our forum I'm all for his posts. I also like to hear what he has to offer and wish I'd been around today for the good deal (I hope he does it again!) If you don't like it, it's easy to punch the iggy button.

Just weighing in on what I consider useful information that is posted on the forum.  I think it is perfectly ok for Harbordocks, to offer forum users a discount.  The forum used to be full of good useful information and I used it as a resource for information and occasionally commented, offered feedback, questions, etc., until I found the usual click of buddies bantering back and forth over what someone wanted in the way of a useful response to a question.

Here we go again...

If it is not your place for YOU to ignore him, then who's is it?  A rhetorical question.  Your condemnation is out of line.  It is he and others that pay for this forum for us freeloaders to enjoy.  Not to mention he was not just advertising, but offering a substantial discount exclusively to us.  As far as I am concerned, you can go pound sand, or daub mud, or whatever it is that you do when you don't get your way.

Then to compare any establishment to the Rodeo Club is laughable.  The place has capacity for 500-600 patrons, but does good to pull in 50 on any given weekend night.  That Facebook exclusive advertising is really filling her coffers, huh?  I would also bet there are many more of us forum users that don't have facebook than do, me being one of them.  The guy is trying to make a living for himself and provides jobs for several others.  What is your contribution to the area and/or the forum?  That one is not rhetorical, inquiring minds want to know?

Use the IGGY button and STFU!

Probably would have been better if you did 20% discount if the customer said "I saw your special on Lake Martin.com".  I have found that, many forum readers simply don't post.  They cruise through, read and don't have an alias. Countless times have customers told me they read, but don't post.   Also, I will ad that this forum is very good for driving traffic to my store.

Are you making any progress with your Sunday alcohol sales problem? It certainly isn't right that your competition should be able to sell on Sunday just because they have a bunch of highly paid lawyers who game the system. In the meantime, I think I saw you state that BYOB is not allowed. My experience in the past is that if a restaurant doesn't sell you can always bring your own. Are you restricted by state or county law on that one?

Your  "Free" help and knowledge plus the every increasing positive reviews makes you the premium service shop on the lake.

Cat, what drives work to your store is your honesty, great service and great advice.  The forum is just a good place for you to share your knowledge of your business and that naturally results in business.

Now about that 20% off discount that GF promised me I would get if I said something nice about you........go ahead and add it to his next bill.  Neither of us want to see you take a financial hit and GF is independently wealthy and doesn't pay taxes so he can afford a little something extra on his next invoice.  Thanks again GF!

Its funny how we all see things differently. I personally would go to HarborDocks more now than ever because I see someone working to get customers in the place. I was telling my banker this morning about how great the Bang Bang Shrimp looked in the picture and she said she had it in B,ham once and loved it. Then she said "Where is H.D." I told her by road and by water... Thats how you get customers to come out. ADVERTISE...

Shay, never met ya but will say hello when I am back down there to eat...

When a post like this gets 17 responses in less than 2 days, you start to get an idea about how many people are
actually reading the forum since only a small percentage of readers would ever take time to reply.   That should be
encouragement for both regular lurkers and advertisers as well.

We are quick to log on here and point out a problem or a condition on the lake, a public service if you will. I've also pointed out a few problems that I had with my boat in the hopes of having someone suggest some possible ideas on how to fix. So you can tell that I'm a male, because if I was female I wouldn't want you to solve my damn problem, I'd just want you to understand that I had one. Bahahah!!!
But noone ever gets on here and says, "I have this problem with my belly every weekend and I've found that putting food in it makes the problem go away. Does anyone know where I can get some food around the lake?"
I've learned some things about the Diners around the lake just by reading "your" posts. To me, Lake Martin Diner topics are an important part of this landscape. But if it offends maybe Web Master would consider creating a new topic area over on the left for those conversations. Most of all I am glad that these places are here, I like sitting on the deck and having a beer or a bite to eat while the water world goes by in front of me. If "Mel" wants to dangle a special in front of me just for being me, well I might just take him up on it. Just please don't send FLO out to take my order!! Can somebody do something about the weather???

My wife and I rarely crank the truck between arrival at the lake and departure, certainly not to drive 45 minutes to a restaurant. Rather eat at home.
However, from this thread we just might break that habit.

I would like to thank the positive and negative posts. This issue of me posting came up last
year. I was told it is no issue since we support the site ,with that said I hate that it bothers
anyone ... More than any other year we are trying to survive against some huge unfair advantages
from another restaurant . My goal is to give good service good food at a reasonable price. I’m in the kitchen
on the line most of the time but would love to meet all of you and thank you for your support.

As the Sunday Liq Sales  it is against state law to bring any outside  Alcohol to any license establishment .
Russell lands used their power and political pull to create some kind of Development District, I have hired a lawyer
but we don't have $$$$$$ to fight Russell Lands .  It’s already hard enough to compete with someone that does not have to make the 1st $ 1.00 but this is truly a huge unfair advantage on Sundays

The crowd will dwendle as service becomes an issue after a hot day on the water and three screaming kids in the crowd.  I'll stay at home with a cold beer and let the honobs enjoy Russell's "FAMILY STYLE" resturant.......

FORUM USAGE RULES

  • Advertising, notices for contests, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and chat to spam other members.

What am I missing? The forum rules do not say it is ok to advertise if you pay. They do not say if some people don't mind it is ok. All mud asked was that the established rules be followed, and you guys tell him to go pound sand and stfu. What's up with that?
