Social pressure killed it as a simple self-reliant, conservative, non-government supported, Good Guys institution.
As a former ScoutMaster, I have seen remarkable growth in young men in my troops as a result of their experiences with achieving GOALS, and simply enjoying a camping trip w/o Momma/Daddy supervising.
Maybe the Scouts will welcome a Gay member into their troop.
They will validate the decision on gays in their midst.

I was a scout and the United States has sure changed since 1962 when I traded a scout uniform for an Air Force uniform. Is it really for the better?

And what a stupid way to go about it. The father of lies is alive and well with the 2%-3% of our population that has SSA and the weak that bow to their perversions. Next step is to force every troop associated with churches to go along or be chastised and expunged. And I can assure you that the cries for gay leaders will start right away. And then when they start buggering the little boys there will be the same outcry as we saw with the Catholic Church and then the scouts will be destroyed. Remember, their ultimate goal is to excise any group that promotes traditional values, honor, faith and virtue and to bastardize them until they no longer exist. That is their real goal.
