Subject:   Alternative to Com-Link Cable?
Date:   5/31/2013 12:17:27 PM

Just received my ComLink bill and it's going up $4.10 in July.  Paying 63.02 + 4.10 = $67.12 monthly for only cable TV is too much. We don't have internet or phone.

I'd prefer not to use satillite since we have lots of trees and the issues during storms.

I am on Little Kowliga Creek in Elmore County.

Any cable alternatives in that area on the lake?

Just left a meeting with Harrison The Cable Buster Guy... He suggest Dish Network. The Internet speed of 12Mbps with 10 GB / month for $49.99

Dish TV prices start at $29.99.

I am just walking in and sitting down to review the packages and I am sure I will saying my final fairwell to Charter Communications.

Its like Christmas at my house...

We have Dish in Bham and at the lake. It crashes when a big thunderstorm comes in from the SW, but it rarely lasts more than maybe 1 or 2 minutes, keeps trying until it restores. Ain't what I call cheap, but what is?

What three factors about a satellite's orbit are required for it to be geostationary?

For TV programing, I've had dish for several years. As others have said, it rarely goes out for than more than a few minutes during heavy storms. Price, programing, and picture quality definitely beat cable for TV. For internet I still prefer cable, but if internet is not a factor get a dish.

If I need to watch TV during a storm I would rely on the DVR and watch the shows I have recorded. I purchased a TIVO awhile back and its the best thing I ever have done. I dont have to channel surf as much. I,m calling the local Disg guy next week to order my install. I will check with Charter one last time on Internet only but, the wound is still fresh so not exspecting much out of them.

Funny story: A few months back I got all worked up at our local coffee club cause charter raised my rates $32 per month from $92 up to $124 so I left coffee, went to Charter and laid down a $100 bill and said "If you can get my bill out of that $100 you can have it, if not, TERMINATE my service" she says, "I need your drivers license", I gave it to her and she beat on the keyboard a few seconds and handed me my drivers license and my $100 bill and said "You,ve been terminated"
I tried to play it off by saying "now come get your boxes out of my house" on the way home I was thinking my goose is cooked. My wife is gonna kill me when she comes home to no TV, I called the 800 number and they reinstated me at $92...  Since then they went back up and will not come down so I will TERMINATE them this time...

1. It has to know what it's celestial address is.
2. It has to have it's address clearly marked on it's solar array bumper pair.
3. It cannot share it's dock with a satellite that is supposed to be in a different orbit.

1. If it strays too far from home, it gets cut off.
2. If the other sats that come around get too close, they get cut off.
3. If you stay too long in the same orbit, your signal signal flags, but hey, that's just me.
