Noticed that today was your first day on the Forum. I can assure you that the Forum can be an asset to you if you participate. But, let us know who you are?? Where you from? Live at Lake Martin full-time? Where? What do you drive on the water?

Been reading the forums for several years. We are part timers on the lake for now but plan to move here full tme in the next three to four years. We love this place but today scared us beyond words.

I'm a little calmer this morning but basically we had four teenagers in the water swimming and my wife and I were sitting on the back of the boat. One of my sons asked why a boat was coming towards us so fast. When I stood and turned the boat was about 100 feet off my bow. At that point I started screaming and waving my arms to get his attention. He pulled up and missed us by 10 feet or less. Very scary to say the least.

Unreal... Lots of dangerous crap out there - inattentive operators, everybody watching the kids on the towables, swerving to "give 'em a good ride", three person PWC's with three up and towing a tube with three more on it. PWC's running in groups and not even watching their buddies...

What I can't understand is why people either go fast or grind along making big waves around Chimney Rock anyway. Lots of boats close together, people in the water, etc. Drives me crazy when I am there which is why I go there very rarely anymore, not to mention my kids seeing some of the bawdy behavior and hearing loud, profanity-laden music. I'm no prude but sometimes it gets a little silly.
