when to harbor docks sat night; was packed ; thought when we arrived; would take forever to get food;

we were seated in a few minutes; we received  our food ; in about 15 min !!!

food was excellent ; great dinner; a lot better than the nightmare at  the new Russell restaurant !!

Sinclair's was better than the " new " restaurant ! we will give our business to harbor docks

Never been disappointed with Harbor Docks. I hope they keep up the fresh fish specials.

I agree totally about Harbor Docks, the atmosphere, food and service is fantastic unlike the other place in which we ordered a burger and a salad (after waiting 50 minutes to be served) and when my burger arrived (30 minutes later) they had completely forgot my wife's salad.  And they weren't even very busy.  The "limited" menu during the prime part of the late afternoon is also a bad idea.  We won't be returning there but will continue to support Harbor Docks where it is obvious Chris and the staff care about pleasing the customer.

respect anyones opinion, honestly. I can't, however, understand so many folks---certainly, there are several/many, who feel a need to shoot at a local dining lace when we don't have enough now. Is Kowaliga great? Not to me. Are they ok and a good casual option to visit some? To us, yes.

Not an attack on you sir! I just have a bias for us to be positive and supportive--we need more restaurants, not fewer!

I would like to see harbor docks serve breakfast as well.

Wahoo Grill....we also went to the new Kowliga Restaraunt on Sat night and it was packed....cars parked all the way out to Church in the Pines.  We went to Wahoo Grill and it was great.  Food and service were excellent and the owner is very nice and friendly.

I agree Lakeguy. The only complaints I've heard about the new place were from posters on this forum who tend to bash anything related to Russell. Raises doubts about their opinions of other establishments. Time will tell.

Kowaliga- Best view, atmosphere but menu is limited and a little pricey.

Harbor Docks- friendly, fun, fresh seafood menu, fair pricing, also accessible by boat.

Good to have them both.

I thought a forum was for people to exchange ideas and personal experiences?  If bad customer service experiences are swept under the carpet and we all pretend that certain places are great they are really doomed to fail.  I will say that they have the finest facility and location on the lake but consistently poor service (we have gone twice with similar results)  is not going to help them survive.  A public forum is the best way I can think of for them to find improvement opportunities (besides the advice I gave the shift manager direct).  If I were a manager of  a place and I consistently got bad reviews I would want to correct the issue(s) and help ensure my own survival.

I understand the concept of praise in public and criticize in private.  But in this case I would feel a little responsible keeping my experience to myself for a large family or group to shell out big bucks, spend much time in frustration for a meal in a place that simply was not worth it.

In fact, if I were a manager of such a place, I would respond in a positive manner to this post for all to see that I was trying to improve and ask for a second chance.

As long as we are posting honest reviews I'll throw in my experience with Loui's.  Went for lunch one day.  Tried to order the "lunch special" but was told that was for dine in only.  So I had to take time to peruse the menu which seemed to agitate the girl behind the counter.  No one was in line behind me, if they had been I would have gladly let them go ahead.  I decided on the combo plate, 4 fingers, 4 wings, fries, $8.  When they say 'fingers' they mean fingers.  Not one of the 4 fingers on the plate was bigger than my index finger.  It was as if they took a chicken tenderloin and cut it into 3-4 pieces. The wings were so overdone as to almost be inedible, every bite was literally knowing a bone.

Needless to say I want be back.  I haven't made it to Harbor Docks yet unfortunately.  I am anxious to get there, but it is about an hours drive for me.  The latest incarnation of Kowliga, I have/had no intention of ever wasting my time or money there.  Ambiance is the only thing it has ever had going for it, but it ain't worth the time when I can sit on the bac deck and have ambiance.

My experience was not that bad but I found the chicken fingers just OK. Run of the mill.  Menu was confusing like you said. I'd go right up to Oscars instead.

The best chicken fingers I have found here are at Jim Bobs in AC -Cherokee RD.

Go on Tuesday and you'll get the 5 finger plate for ~ $5.50  with 2 sides. Big fingers, fries are great and slaw too. consistent. Hamburgers are good too with everything on the side.

"Geezer special" is free drink anytime.... Unfortunately not near the lake.

Our first visit to HarborDock Saturday night. Arrived about 5:45, seated promptly outside. Served very cold bottled beverages very quickly. Likewise, several appetizers came out fast. Re-ordered the Bang-Bang Shrimp.. Good atmosphere, good food, we'll go back for sure. But, we will give Kowaliga a shot too.

maybe you should read the original complaint again. Did I ask for praise for bad service? No. Did I question negative posts--and implicitly indicate that those with little or no specifics seem like they are inappropriate? Yep.

Yes, you are correct!

Further, we may give them another try perhaps in a month or two.  I fully support small guys and the big guys because after all both help our local economy and keep Americans employed.  Perhaps my response was a bit hasty but I got the sense that there was an implication of Big Company-Bashing somewhere in this thread which is not the case... on my part anyway.

Really like Wahoo Grill fish sandwich.. Not on the lake ...but you can get there. Need to support all restaurants in the lake community. Oysters at Wahoo are excellent. BTW...loved the moon over the weekend!
