I would like to ask the forum a couple questions that I think can only be supported by opinions.

1.  Is the faith in our government slipping away?

2.  If you believe it is slipping away, what can be done to restore it?

I believe faith in our government is eroding at an extremely fast rate.  My answer to the second question is, "I don't have a clue."

I'm afraid my answer is the same as yours.I have NO faith that our Politians can get anything done and still maintain
our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

1. Slipping away? No, it is long gone.
2. Repair faith?  I am afraid that with the politics and pandering, I will only have faith in the Government once my transition to senility is complete.

1.  Absolutely and polls are showing it, especially among conservatives, independents and libertarians but less so among liberals and progressives who like big government and trust the current occupant of the WH.

2. Our only hope is to restore federalism, limit the size, power and intrusiveness of the federal government and that can only be accomplished through an electorate that is actually educated about our constitution and the intent of the founding fathers.  Absent that, they will continue to vote for Santa Claus who provides them with all their "freebies" until they are all equal.......equally miserable that is.......

1. Yes. There is no faith in our government.  Corruption is entrenched in the whole process of politicians rising up through the ranks.  When they reach the highest levels they are owned by the pimps that paved their path to win the election.  Our democracy is a farce.  We "elect" based on a choice of candidates somebody else has already decided or heavily influenced using deep pockets, education and the MSM as their primary tools.

2. Apathy in our country is rampant and a major crisis or revolution will have occur to turn the apathy around.

One final parting comment.  The one who is really in charge lives upstairs.  Not some affirmative action (thanks MM) figurehead that our MSM bows to and our youth embraces.

1. No, faith in our government is getting stronger, at least the majority of voters in the last two POTUS elections think so. The rub comes with the train wreck coming straight down the track because of that majority and how they think. Somehow, they just don't understand either economics or human nature.

2. Fix-It?? Too late without some catastrophic event that brings about Major Culture Shock across the board for rich as well as poor. This is not new!! It has been coming since the 1950's as the "Government" that saved us from the Nazis began to save us all from ourselves in all phases of our lives. History reveals many of these events and how it changed the world at a deadly cost.

There doesn't seem to be any question that we have lost faith in "our" federal government. Recent polls show that less than 15% of the American people agree that Congress demonstrates any concern for the well-being of our country. What does it take to make those who have been elected and are receiving their "pay checks" from "we the people" to understand that they have a moral obligation to "serve" the people. They were not elected to "RULE" the people. There has to be someone in this great country intelligent enough and motivated enough to mount a movement that brings us back to our senses. We need a true "statesman" with the foresight and fortitude of just one of our "founding fathers" to lead us out of this downward spiral. I would like to challenge every member of the forum to read the book "America The Beautiful" written by Dr. Benjamin Carson, Neurosurgeon, and Head of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was the keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast earlier this spring. If you haven't seen the video of his speech, you will find his 27 minute speech to be both educational and entertaining. By the way, he is a black man, and I would not hesitate to vote for him for President. By the way, I am an elderly white American, born in Alabama, served 20 years in the Air Force, and I am not a racist as most of us Alabamians are typically accused.
