I'd be interested to hear posts from those at the Lake who specifically use the Excede satellite-delivered internet service about their experiences.

We tried to test the service in the first quarter of this year over in Clanton at one of the dealers with pretty disastrous results. We took two laptop computers to their facility to test Excede (and the newer Hughes offering) and found both very lacking. Poor enough that if made us decide not to pull the trigger on having it installed.

I have been using EXEDE services for about a year and offer the following comments:

They are 20 times better than the AT&T services.
They have three plans offering the amount of bandwidth you want to buy. I get the 10 GB plan.
I just checked my speeds and have a download of 12.7 Mbps & upload of 260 Kbps. Note, this is the high traffic time of the day.
The cost is about $55 per month.
In bad rain or electrical storms the service will go out similar to DirecTV.
If you have smart phones and iPads and use this system for them as well you will need to buy the high bandwidth plan. Also if you watch many movies you would need the high bandwidth plan.

In summary, I am satisfied with this service for my needs. Note, I don't have access to cable.

What Firefighter said. I'm using Exede right now in Stillwaters and it works great. I used to have Hughesnet.

Doing good - got a brand new hip last month, and am recovering well from that. Guess TSA will want to wand me from now on, lol. Went fishing for the first time this summer on Sunday and boated a couple of stripes - life is good. Hope all is well with you and yours.
