Trey Taylor may be Paul Taylor's son. Paul was a long time county commissioner in Elmore, who died a couple of years ago. Anyway, Taylor was the only actual "farmer" that showed up and made some statements that exaggerated the flood plain farmers dealings by claiming floods are a problem every year, which it certainly is not. Another man stood up and announced to the crowd after Taylor spoke as a county commissioner, that Taylor just happens to own over 700 acres of crop land in the flood plain. Kinda blew Taylor's cover.

Trey is Paul Taylors nephew; he beat Mac Daughtry by 7 votes--a real shame as Taylor doesnt represent his constituents at the lake--owns cotton land between Tallassee & I 85

"Blew his cover?" As what-- a concerned landowner? Or maybe those down-streamers shouldn't count as real people because they don't have the good sense to own lakefront property on this lake? How dare he have personal concerns; doesn't he agree that it's all about YOU?? If I owned land downstream and depended on that land to earn a living, I'd be concerned, too. And I'd probably be concerned enough to attend a PUBLIC meeting and express those concerns, even though some of you seem to find that reprehensible.

My point was Trey spoke as a high and mighty statesman (politician), without letting on to the 600 lake folks that he was really speaking for himself. Kind of self-serving in my book. Don't forget that those farmers plow the ground up to the bank of the river in an area officially known as a FLOOD PLAIN. The land that they fuss about is in the flood plain, read Flood Plain. BTW, they can buy crop insurance if they are worried about a flood in the FLOOD PLAIN.

Trey Taylor is the late Melvin Taylor Jr.'s son. Melvin was a former county commissioner and also a co-owner of the land south of Tallassee on highway 229 towards the interstate (85). There were about 10 sons of Melvin Taylor Sr. (not a commissioner, just a very good farmer), who now farm the land once owned/leased by Melvin Sr. The land is bordered by the Tallapoosa River below Tallassee to about Shorter/Milstead. They are all good people and upright citizens and to my knowledge they have always been friends of the community and generous to others.

That being said, it might have been slightly a purposeful oversight for Trey to not disclose the fact that his primary occupation is a farmer of the land that would be highly impacted by any decision regarding it.
