If you would like to see the number of letters submitted to FERC you can go to

http://elibrary.ferc.gov/idmws/search/fercadvsearch.asp

Then under Docket type in P-349-* (Wildcard Search)

At the Bottom of the Page Click "Submit" and the results will appear.

If you would like to review the doc go to the right side of the page and Click "Review FERC PDF Doc".

Currently there are approx 37 letters ( I say 90% YEA and 10% NAY)

Have fun, but please do not post any names on the forum as to whether people stated YEA or NAY, as  I was surprised at a couple of folks that stated NAY.

Oh yea - I did read an interesting doc, The Village has gained approval to build a bridge to an island and install 42 boat dock if I read the doc correctly, below is an excerpt

The licensee proposes to allow the permittee to construct improvements within the
project boundary to facilitate residential development of a 1.51-acre island on Lake
Martin that is owned by the permittee and located outside of the project boundary.2 The
improvements would include a vehicular bridge to provide access to the island, 776 feet
of seawall around the island, and three multi-slip, floating boat docks to accommodate 42
watercraft. Approximately 290 feet of riprap and 158 feet of natural swimming beach

I noticed that approval for the Village as well. They tend to get what they want.

Also noted a few very influential people against the higher level winter pool. Makes me think we are not going to be happy. But at the end of the day we still live on one of the most beautiful lakes in the US.

Thanks for the link.

Subject:   My Question is Where are the HOBOs and LMRA
Date:   8/1/2013 3:33:35 PM

Only approx 50 comments since the FERC meeting on July 13th and would suspect between HOBOs and LMRA, they probably have over 3,000 members combined, so why have their members not filed an Ecomment as at most might take 15 minutes??? Comment period ends on August 13th.

I sure hope I am missing something here, as at this rate APCo will not be successful in their endeavor to support the local communities.

Other questions are:
- Where is Governor Bentley
- Where are the local mayors and commissioners
- Where are our State Representatives
- Where is Senator Shelby and Sessions, etc
- etc etc.

Hope I am wrong, but does not look good for the home team !!!!!

LMRA just sent out an email blast today. They are working on a memo to send to all of the Washington delegation, and they are also meeting with a couple of US reps and one of the US senators face to face. Maybe someone from LMRA could chime in with more details.

By God's providence, I bumped into US Rep. Martha Roby at a birthday party on the 20th and talked to her about it for 30 minutes. She wants more info and I am sending her the above memo from LMRA, and (I think) she is one of the ones that LMRA is meeting.

HOBOs - their pres told me they are working on an email. I haven't seen it yet.

Bentley - ?? No clue what is going on there. Maybe a lot. Maybe nothing. I don't know.

I am sending out my own email blast, too, plus posting it on my blog and FB, twitter, etc.

I would think if we could get 600+ people to a meeting, then we should be able to get 6,000+ people to comment.

Here is the LMRA email, received it about 5 minutes ago. I like the very bottom of the emial, as such it very ture --- you do not have to be a property owner to be a stakeholder !!!!

Please take 3 minutes to possibly affect Lake Martin for the next 40 years

We only have 12 days left to positively affect Lake Martin for the next 40 years.  FeRC has provided a method to comment to them and let them know that we favor the 7 foot winter pool and the extended full pool into October.  It only takes 3 minutes!  Do you have 180 seconds to help?  Please do this before August 13th.

Here's how to eComment to FeRC:

1. Go to this website by clicking on this link:  FeRC eComment Site

or copying this address and pasting it in your browser:

http://www.ferc.gov/docs-filing/ecomment.asp

2.  Click on the orange button at the top that says "eComment does not require registration, click here to proceed"

3.  Fill out your information and click Authorize.  It will send you a link to the email address you typed in.

4.  Go to your email account and click on the link it provides

5.  Select the project by searching for Lake Martin's project number:   P-349-173

6.  Once you search it will offer Lake Martin as a result.  Select it.

7.  Type your comments in the white box.  Feel free to use the comment below, just copy and paste in the white box.

I am in full support of Alabama Power's draft eIS for the Martin Relicensing project.  In particular, I support:

Dropping the winter water down only 7 feet as opposed to 10, and extending the summer pool level to October 15, conditions permitting.

I think the economic benefits are tremendous and will benefit thousands, and I am confidant that Alabama Power has done the research to prove the potentials for below the dam flooding, in an already existing flood zone, are minimal.

8.  Submit it.  That's it!  You will receive a confirmation email from FeRC

What else can you do?

1. Ask your spouse and all non-minor family members to comment.  Remember, you don't have to be a property owner to be a stakeholder.

2.  Forward this email to any and all other family and friends that love Lake Martin.

3.  Ask them all to file comments ASAP, certainly before August 12.

It only takes 3 minutes and this affects your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren!

The HOBO blast will go out today.  Sometimes the responsibilities we have to our families interfere with our best intentions to provide thorough, accurate, and timely instructions to our members.
