I would like some feedback from everyone on if they would support a new restaurant at Still Waters in the Club House , Its been closed For several years it is a very pretty spot . Has great future if it would be supported by Still Waters and others. I greatly appreciate any feedback Thanks Chris Zinn Harbordocks Restaurant

Since Uncle NIcks is gone, I think the area is ripe for a new restaurant. Good Food and good service is the key.

My opinion is that there are to many choices in that area, and throw in the fact that its in a gated area, think its a loosing battle. Also think about having practically zero business for 6 months during winter. But you know what they say about opinions right?? Opinions are like orgasms, mines the only one that matters and I dont care if you have one!!

we try to support all the restaurants you can get to by boat, but they all seem to be on the south end of the lake, we are usually on the north end or at CR.  so chucks and your place are the two we frequent the most.  I think something on the north end with water access would do very well.  not so sure about still waters area, my 2 cents.

Mixed thoughts. I don't think Nicks was ever managed correctly. You never knew what to expect when you went in the door. On a 365 day operation you'll have to compete with Oscars. You see a lot of SW folks in there. Likewise with Niffers. You would be more in the traffic pattern there. What about access for non-residence?

Several years ago they had a great seafood buffet on Friday evenings and we enjoyed eating there. Now it is Poplar Dawgs, Oskars, and occasionally Niffers.  We would support it if we can get past the gate since we are no longer members. We live close so it would be a natural spot for us.

Thanks for the feedback keep it comming . To awnser a couple questions ...it is not a issue to get threw the gate the Golf Course is now public . To make a go of this the restaurant would need support outside the community of Still Waters Thanks Again for your post Chris

Are you talking about having a place down by the water where they had it and the oyster bar or are you talking about having it at the clubhouse by the proshop?

45 minutes by car from our place on Parker Creek to Harbordocks,, had a delightful evening for sure,,, but we ain't gonna' make that drive very often. And, boat slips at HD were overbooked. A restaurant at Stillwaters would be no better for us.

If you are just itching to expand at LM, why not consider a place on the WeST SIDe OF LAKe MARTIN???? Come on,,,, we like our BangBang Shrimp too!!

Scrushy's Palace is still available, but, well, maybe not.

How about a long time traditional name on the West end,, that would be Veasy's Marina,, presently closed for probably fuel storage tank problems??. Update it/refurbish it. Make it Harbordocks West with the same menu. Serve good stuff. Suck a lot of those snoots away from the 63 syndrome and do it on the water!! Primo location. Look at the map. Drive or boat West from Kowaliga and then North until the lake ends or you reach AC. No place to eat on either shore except Willow Point.

I too found ownership details on the public website.  I will mail full details including appraised value registered at Tallapoosa County.  Check your inbox.

We would support a place on Stillwaters but only if we could get there by boat.  The drive by land has a lot of other options already in place to compete with.  Veazeys place would be perfect in my mind.

Open a restaurant there without doing some serious research work in the Stillwater's community. The older non-native population in the development is so totally different than surrounding Dadeville to the north and isolated areas to the south it makes for a very complex marketing problem. This history of restaurants there is not good so you'd better have a different plan. Additionally there are negative things going on with the ownership of the closed golf course you'd  better consider as well.

What this area needs is a small, solid BBQ restaurant. There's not one anywhere near here. No...Nick's wasn't it.

As a west sider, I doubt we would go to Stillwaters to dine more than once a summer....I like The Harbor Docks at Anchor Bay location and we will continue to eat there when we want lunch/dinner by boat. I would also support and be happy with the Veazey's location.

Went to the Stillwater Clubhouse a few times with a group and we enjoyed it. That being said, stay with a restaurant that one can come by boat or car. Nicks and the previous restaurants at that location would have made it if they were on the other side of the bridge. Water, boating, and eating are the 3 key words. Otherwise, you are just one of the others with a parking lot.

We can stand on our dock and look over at Veazy's. we've been T our place since 2005. The first year it wasn't opened. For the next two or three years a guy (I think chapman was his last name) rented the place from Mrs. Veazy and did an okay business. She died and it hasn't been opened since. The building has been for sale for several years now. Just in the last year or two the floating dock that was falling apart has been removed.

It has NEVER had a restaurant in it and  NEVER will unless you by the Veazy's old house (worth more that the old Marina building) and tear it down for parking.  Obviously none of you have ever done more that ride by in a boat if you are encouraging such a foolish endeavor.  You can't survive without road traffic and the place ho NO that is ZERO parking, half a dozen cars at best.  But once you did the necessary renovation/ addition that would disappear.

All you guys are advising and encouraging a foolish endeavor based on what is good and convenient for you, not Shay.

No, not Veazy's. And I suspect that Chris is smart enough to consider the negative aspects of the location before plunging in. His original question was would folks come to Stillwaters. I answered no, but I would come to somewhere on the West end like Veazy's. Other dummies like me simply agreed. OK?

While it was open, we ate at the StillWaters restaurant every time we visited. We loved it!

Now we live on StillWaters… and the restaurant has closed.  Yes, Oskars, Chuck’s, Anchor Bay, and Niffers and Judy’s are okay (we try to give Judy and Chuck’s as much business as we can).  We frequented the oyster bar while it was running. Poplar Dawg and Colonel Tom are NOT to our taste.

There are no “high end” dining establishments on the StillWaters side of The Lake. If there were… we would go there.  We liked the Nick’s location back when it was a finer dining locale.

You may not want to entangle yourself with the StillWaters golf course owner and operation.

BUT… a fine dining restaurant on our side of The Lake… if you build it – they (we) will come!

I'm sure the people at the west end would like to have a restaurant. You need to check the population number in both places. Stillwater's has (guessing) over 500 homes and Paces Point has over 2000 homes. With the right promotion you might even get a few of the Dadeville locals (maybe a locale night).

I and the people I know would support a Stillwaters restaurant and we have in the past.

The old Stillwaters restaurant on the water with docks is vacant and may even still have a kitchen, something you may want to look into,

Good Luck !!

If anyone knows of any other sites or marinas that might look at leaseing a area for a restaurant please ler us know . Thanks Chris

Into making your current restaurant even better. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Harbor Docks; it is the only waterfront restaurant we have visited this year, or last. But last night I saw someone at a nearby table stand on her chair and try to wave a waitress down so they could get refills on their drinks. I think they eventually had to go hunt the waitress down, because it had been so long since they had seen her. We had some slow service too, which I have learned to tolerate on summer weekends, because anybody who doesn't is going to be unhappy. But I was surprised to see that the inside section of the restaurant was empty; it took over an hour to get our food even though only the outdoor tables were occupied, and not every one. Ideally I'd love to see a more attentive wait staff, and a shorter wait for appetizers; that would make the wait for entrees seem shorter. But even with these "complaints," Harbor Docks remains my restaurant of choice! (I can't speak for the table that had to beg for more drinks.)

Jallcz Thank you for your input. I'm sorry it took as long as it did for your food . Not to go into details about the restaurants issues I will tell you this sence we are A seasonal restaurant it's very hard to find people who want to work . The hireing pool In this area is so very limited. And the loyalty and dedication from most staff is not what You would hope for due to the limited employment time ,with that said we have some great people.. Jalcz last night we were down 2 servers and one cook ,along with it being one of are best weekends . I promise you this these issues you have mentioned do not go unnoticed . We will continue to try to get better .. And hope you continue to give us your feedback

I figured there must be a reason. Frankly, it doesn't bother me so much, but I hope any first-timers who were there weren't so turned off that they won't be willing to give you another try. Like I said, it's my favorite place to eat on the lake, and I want you to be here for a long time. (And if you ever are in the mood for a menu suggestion, here's one: catfish. When I crave it, and I often do, I have to go somewhere else. I'd rather not go anywhere else!) (Here's another: find something else to go on the plate with the Bang Bang Shrimp besides lettuce. A potato, some hush puppies, cole slaw... something so the plate doesn't look so empty, and the person who ordered it doesn't feel like they got an appetizer for an entree.)

The bang bang is an appetizer silly. Catfish is on the specials from time to time but it is rare. I love salmon myself.

Then change my suggestion to "Under "specials," don't list an appetizer as if it were an entree." I'm not the only one who assumed that a dish listed as an entree on the Specials menu was going to be an entree.

Ok well next time you go and you look at the specials menu notice there are about three items listed at the top where you see the bang bang. These items are usually under $10. Those are the special apps. Then down further on the specials you will see where is says entrees. Those are the entrees. Which are also double the price of the ones listed at the top. The bang bang has always been an app and it is usually around $10, which ypu cant even get a burger forthat cheap there. The entrees also have listed what they come with unlikethe apps which just say what they are. Like bang bang shrimp, thats all you get. Or the bang bang chicken which they had this past weekend and it was just bang bang chicken.
