Looking for reviews from anyone using the I Phone 4, 5, and Galaxy II on the Straight Talk CDMA-V network around the lake. I'm only looking at CDMA phones. Also looking for performance reviews of these phones in other areas.....My Verizon contract is up and I'm going to defect.

I was going to do the same, but,,,, I found a sale on Galaxy S3 at Sam's for 96 cents. 2 year Verizon extension and 4G. Strong 4G signal in Parker Creek.

Had a Blackberry on Strait Talk for 3 days....went back to Verizon....Coverage was terrible....had coverage in major cities but as soon as I left the down town area service droped.

Pageplus is the best way to go. Its Verizon service but sold at a discount.
Unlimited Text & Talk with 200mb service total tax and all $37.95
Check coverage online. Its better than what they show. I never loose service anywhere on the lake.

Sister has STalk V with a Samsung ???, whatever. At our place she gets a strong signal, receives text and pix w/o dropping a call. Good action for the price $45. Go above 2G data and it chokes/drops. The system is 3G max.

If you go to StraightTalk you have to get a CDMA phone. Verizon uses CDMA....that's what makes Verizon better. Don't go AT&T at all cost around the lake. I have friends who use ST CDMA with 3G around the lake and they're happy, but then they probably don't put high demands on data. BTW, ST has a re-Man Samsung 3G CDMA phone available on their website for $19.95. You can give it a try pretty cheaply.

Can't speak to the coverage down there or to ST. But I bought 3 Galaxy S III a few months ago and we like them a lot. Had trouble with one but they sent a new one right away. Saw news today that Samsungs customer service ranked pretty low but they were great for us.
I wound up staying with Tmobile with no contract.
Good luck,

I've looked at that on your previous recomendation, but 200mb of data will only last me a few days.....I use almost 2gb on a slow month.

Absolutely true. I've done considerable research and have found that Straight Talk sells phones that use Sprint, Verizon, ATT, and even T-Mobile networks depending on the location in the USA where you buy the phone and the agreements they have negotiated. For example, you can not get a CDMA-V (verizon network) phone in the Metro Atlanta area (or even in many Alabama metro areas), but you can get one through Wally World in Alex City. If you go on the Walmart website for phones, the zip you enter will make a huge difference on phones available. A straight Talk I Phone 5 bought in Atlanta will use the ATT network. A Straight Talk I Phone 5 bought in Alex City will use the Verizon network. Also, all the major networks have subcontractors which may cause Straight Talk service to be sub-par (from the parent company service) in certain rural areas. Phones of the same name also have modifications depending on the area sold and the network they use. These are the reasons I'm specifically looking for direct experience withe these specific phones utilizing the Verizon CDMA network around the lake.

When I ordered our ST phones you had a choice between Verizon and AT&T, but in the past year I believe ST has done away with AT&T in the Dadeville/AC markets....probably because of poor service and reception. I thinks it's Verizon only here with ST. I cannot complain at all about ST service, reception is good everywhere I go, never had a dropped call...at least from my end.

Yep. No contract with ST. But, I wonder about data performance at 2G or more with ST. But, you already pulled the ripcord on ST so, we will expect a detailed performance analysis on the experience. Your decision is simple. I am shopping for a new pontoon boat, and the selling of my old rocket.
