I recently switched to a smart phone. So far it works so well I am disconnecting my home internet. Obviously I can read and post but it is cumbersome using the browser. Any tricks or tips I am missing?

There are not many tricks to using the phone's browser other than get a phone that has a large screen so you can see it better. However you might want to look into getting the phone setup to be a hotspot. This means you can use the phone as your "internet source/modem" and log a computer/tablet onto the phone's wifi and access the internet that way. Not hard at all and most phones you just have to "flip the switch". It used to cost money for this service but so many free app's were out there that verz and att just started giving it free too. Not hard to do and always works. If you have one of the second rate carriers....I am not sure how their plans/phones work. Verz and ATT should be no problem to turn on and use. Just remember that the internet usage you are using is your monthly data allowance. Surfing and looking...no problem...start downloading music, books, movies and watch out! If you have a 4G phone then it is actually better than most regular internet services...and you can take it with you wherever your phone is...car, boat, etc. Hope this helps.

There is not an app that I'm aware of, but you can set up links (with an icon) to various places on sites that you visit. When you tap that link you will be where you want to be on any site you choose. I have one set up for this forum and several other places I visit on a regular basis.

If you have an iPhone and are part of the Apple ecosystem then you can share links etc with other devices (computers, iPads etc) that are cojoined by your itunes account and linked through iCloud.  that makes things easy because you share links etc.

If  your problem is that the screen is to small there are bluetooth keyboards that come with apps to connect to your phone.

Depending on who your service provider is and what you plan is and of course your equipment you can use your phone as a wifi hotspot for up to 5 devices, permitting you to use your computer like you always have.

Another option is to purchase a usb radio modem and put your phone sim card in it.  You might have to do a little hacking or find a kid, but the usb device will permit you to use your computer as you always have.

You can also hack your sim card and put it in a iPad assuming that you have the correct phones and iPads.  There is information in the web that tells you how to do all of this.

Thanks for the tips and advice guys.  I use Straight Talk which runs on Verizon networks.  even the voice mail prompts say welcome to Verizon.  So far I have only gotten 3G service but friends from Atlanta tell me they have 3G here but 4G at home, but they are on Verizon contracts. I havent been out of the area since switching but even at 3G it is quited adequate for the surfing I do.

As for you using it for a hotspot I was told when I bought it that no Verizon phones could be used as a hotspot any longer.  Supposedly they downloaded a patch that disabled that function, but like you said, I can probably find a 10yo that can work around that.  I was kinda counting on it when I made the leap.  A couple of my favorite sites have apps that convert to mobile format.  I really like that and hope to find more.

As for this site it works but is somewhat cumbersome.  I have made several duplicate posts lately and yesterday in the Pleasure point thread I accidentally check the email notification button and since my email now goes to my phone I had to delete the post last night because it kept alerting and I couldn't get it to stop.  I am sure I could have muted the phone, but I didn't need to do that for other reasons.  So far I am shickled tickless with it though.  It is $45/mo for unlimited, even cheaper if you buy 3,6,or 12 months at a time. Also from what I understand none of the "unlimited" plans are truly unlimited they just slow you way down after reaching a certain limit and the guy at Walmart said that is 4 gigs, which is a BUNCH.  So far it has done everything that others can do with contract phones, well except for ATT/SPRINT, mine want drop calls...lol.  I know others that are paying $90-100/mo and never complete a call without dropping it at least once.  One in particular comes to mind.  I want call names because he runs a CATHOUSe and discretion is important in that line of work....lol.
