I have heard that plans are in place for another mega marina on that land. Even has a name already. Mid Lake Marina. Brought to us by the friendly folks at Russell. As DJ has said, this didn't just pop up over a sewage complaint

Hey Lifer, can you provide more details on your rumor?

No that's all I heard and it came from someone with a brother still in the park. My buddy used to have a weekend place their till he bought and built his retirement home elsewhere on the lake. And it is rumor and I usually would even post something I can't confirm. This issue is to big not to get any and all info out so those affected can pursue it to its natural ends IMHO. Just to clarify, I am not an APCO supporter on this issue other than it is their land to do with as they wish. But just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

Next year at this time,  one week before Labor Day weekend.  If Russell Lands owns and operates a new Mega Marina at that location, I will jump of the bridge to nowhere.  If there is no Mega Russell Lands owned and operated marina at the PP location you jump of the bridge to nowhere.

looks like they have been caught with their pants down and no flush toilet.   Heard that there was going to be a protest and a refusal to leave and that APCO said they would turn off the power , probably not true but it is the latest rumor.  Drove by there today to see the place.  Amazing how many structures they can cram into a small place.  Must have seen 50 pontoon boats and 75 jet skis tied up at docks.  Guess when the fire sale starts the price of pontoon boats and jetskis will be in the crapper, wonder what effect that will have on the septic system.

Sad but it looks like the jig is up, unless someone comes up with some big bucks.  Money talks or pp walks.

Also drove by both the new and the old Dixie Sailing Club.  There is nothing at the new club but a motorized dingy, and a couple of moorings looks like they may have given up.  Houses and docks etc still standing at the old location but no sailors.

Who will get ejaculated next?

Say it isn't so, Cat is going to open a new marina on Pleasure Point, I heard he will sell 150mph pontoon boats.

My bridge jumping days are long passed.  Even if they weren't I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else.  I don't have a dog in the PP fight, other than caring about what happens to the lake I call home and the good folks that are being run over by the money train headed their way.  Lots of rumors are flying about.  Who knows whats true and whats not?  Certainly not me, and I would bet my bottom dollar not you.

You have now shown your colors and you ignorance with only two posts.  One thing I do know for sure is that the residents have, at this point, till June 1 to vacate.  That leaves about 12 weeks for the construction of the rumored marina in your time frame.  Any adult with connected brain cells knows that NO project of those proportions could be completed in that time frame so it would be a no win for me.  The dirt work couldn't be done in that time, assuming all the residents are actually out by June 1 which I find highly unlikely at this point.  There will be lawsuits filed and any and every Judge will issue stays which will prevent APCO from moving forward till the matter is resolved whichever way it plays out.  As has been brought up, there are many issues at play.  DJ pointed out that the land usage maps have changed drastically since first being published several years ago.  I know this to be true because I looked them up myself.  I don't remember what the original plan for PP was as I had no interest in that area when they first came out.  But I do know that several other areas have changed because I was interested in them and looked them up at the time.  Next and even more important is the permits issued recently.  If it can be shown that APCO issued those permits while even contemplating a change in the status quo, then I believe the residents are on pretty sound footing.  At least those that did those improvements.  Then there is the issue of recent sales.

You sir are an ignorant @sshole who thinks you are better than others because you (supposedly) own land on the shores of our beautiful lake.  You couldn't be more wrong.  You are in fact lower than anyone of those residents.  Every citizen of our state has as much right, responsibility, and privilege of use just because they are human and live in Alabama.  To think that others are less entitled because they couldn't or wouldn't spend big money in order to have access to these waters says a lot more about you, than them.

So you can take your snarky I'm better than you attitude to the 160ft depths at the dam and jump off there.  It would be a shame if you made it out to waste more oxygen.  You are no better than catfish food to me.  The only thing I will be jumping off of are my pier and my boat, both of which I own.  Doesn't it really suck that I am allowed on the same lake as you?  Maybe next time you are in the water you can suck up some of that sewage that may or may not have leeched into the lake.  You will never drown, however, because we all know that SH!T FLOATS!

BURN!      Wow --   you said it all. Confused about this issue-- mainly because I have not looked into any of the land use or permitting like some, nor have we lived here long enough to even have an opinion… but I would say you won that debate.

If the UGA stands for what I think it means, why not screw up some of the remaining (partially polluted) rivers in your state, and doin't be telling us what to do?

I found what appears to be him on facebook.  Judging by the picture he has posted he is an even bigger idiot than I thought, and that was tough, cuz I had him right up there at the top of the stack.  You may be right about UGA.  I had him pegged as an UA fan judging from the T-shirt he is wearing.  "NERVOUS AUBURN"?  What the hell is that about?  His comparison of the PP situation to illegal immigration only shows that he doesn't understand either issue.

After seeing what appears to be you on Facebook I have determined that your comments must be made in jealousy.  Anybody that would post that pic obviously has nothing of any substance.  I now think that rather than an elitist you are just a sad wannabe. I think you are jealous that you never got one of the "cheap seats"  at PP so now you want them gone.  I also now understand why you would think that a mega marina could be in place in a year.  You don't have a clue about anything.  How did you manage to find Lake Martin?  Do yo have a rich uncle who invited you here for a holiday?

But keep up the good job of just being yourself.  The forum has been rather slow all season just like everything else lake related.  I will enjoy the entertainment of berating you often and Bruce will enjoy the increased traffic.  Or you might want to consider just crawling back into the septic tank you crawled out of to pollute our beautiful lake and forum.

Mike Hunt - its not over until its over!!!  You will be surprised when the big bucks show up!! Won't you?  You think just because people live in smaller homes ( they own and paid cash for) don't have resources? - Sadly mistaken. The BIG BUCKS as you put it might have already shown up - you don't know because you don't know us.

I am a US born Mexican. I learned stone masonry from my Uncle in Mexico. I mostly work in Mountain Brook and Lake Martin. Much of the beautiful stone work you see my crew did. I understand immigration as I am working to have my brother and sister become US citizens. I also understand the situation at PP. I have a friend there who I helped remodel. What I know is that there is a legal way to become a citizen and a legal way to dispose of sewage. I was comparing illegal immigrants to the illegal disposition of sewage. The picture you are making fun of is me helping my nephew learn hi job and learn English. He is a foriegn exchange student and wants to become a US citizen and study at Rice University. I speak two languages, have a business and attend UAB. I always wanted to be a doctor but did not have the money. I did stone work for a doctor 2 years ago and told him about my dream. Much to my surprise he made arrangement for me to attend university to become a PA. The doctor and another friend of mine let me borrow their lake homes when my family visits from Mexico. What is your job and how did you find Lake Martin.

...on citizenship.  The rest is cr@p.  To continue to say that illegal sewage disposal is occurring in PP is slanderous and despicable!  I have seen no allegations that anyone is dumping sewage in the lake, much less proof.  A leaking line on top of a hill does not translate to sewage in the lake.  Mother earth has a way of taking care of such issues.  Its called absorption.  Until it is shown that anyone is dumping raw sewage into the lake, you and others MUST stop with the accusations.  To compare those folks to criminals is so out of line.  You owe them all an apology.

You have adopted the wrong set of American values.  To insinuate that someone must spend the big bucks to have the right to live on the lake is out of line.  Maybe you have been working for and hanging with too many rich doctors and picked up warped sense of what it means to be American.  In the America I know nobody should be judged by their standard of living but the content of their character.  Yours seems to be flawed IMHO.

My Father bought our first lake lot in 1974, before that we camped here, despite being 10 miles in either direction from two different lakes, we drove 60+ miles to come here. I and/or my family now have multiple places on the lake.  Not that I owe you a damn thing, but I am medically retired for chronic health issues I wouldn't wish on anyone, not even you.

I am proud that you are afforded the opportunity to pursue your dream.  America is wonderful that way.  Now leave others free to pursue and enjoy theirs without insinuating they are criminals!!

BTW- here is a thought.  If you have such a wonderful crew why not volunteer them for a day to assist in repairing any issues that may be occurring in PP rather than berating the residents, most of whom were/are clueless to any issue at all?  You claim to have a friend in PP.  So you want to see them displaced?  Where is your loyalty to them?  Be part of the solution, not the problem and by your own admission you have stayed their.  If the sewage is that big an issue why would you stay if you feel so strongly 'polluting' the lake?

You could sell all that food you cook to raise money. Maybe even your two buddies would donate some of their skills.

I am not saying what should be,  I am just saying the way things work around here.  Read all of my posts on this matter.  Which side to you think I am on?

What I was saying is that in most things involving the lake if you want something you are going to have to pay three prices for it.  And then someone is going to figure out how you have to do it again.

When it is the govt. or any "BIG" guys they want "BIG BUCKS".

Oh, and if you can figure out, tell me why a piece of PVC that would cost you 50 bucks installed in town, cost 500 bucks on the lake?

Same thing applies to everything from hamburgers to gas to 2x4s. Fortunately they have not figured out how to sell ya 1969 rusted out pinto for twice the original price

Thank you so much for your comments lifer , because of people like you lifer we are americans who in the worst of times help our fellow man in its time of need , apco is evecting retired men - women - children who have made there home pleasure point for 20-30 years and with no idea that this was even a issue , like myself all i did is take my hard earned taxed money and buy a place on the lake for 900% of its tru value for the family to have a place to spend quaility time together, now because of bad park management the park residents are being kicked off the properties they built and invest hard money in . fix the maanagement and you fix the problem this is greed and nothing else with no true comapssion for the residents of the park . a bull dozier does not fix the park , and by the way we pay $345.00 per month for a small spot when these other lake homes pay the same for 1-3 acres from georgia power , in reality the people at pleasure point pay more per square foot for the lake than almost anyone else on the lake ....
