“Assad is estimated to have more than 1,000 tons of chemical weapons.”

Hmmmm… 1K tons? Certainly this is not the WMDs that were not in Iraq after we had successfully (and easily) defeated Sadam.  Oh no! That’s not possible.  Assad had been making them all along and NOBODY noticed… not even this Israelis!

This is what happens when one takes a simplistic approach to complex international issues. (all of you liberals should Google “simplistic”… it’s your forte… and while you are at it… Google “forte.”)

Remember when you wrestled with algebra in high school? Suddenly, the ol’ marm threw in a “quadratic” equation.  She added another variable.  Then there were TWO! In the politics and reality southwest Asia the NUMBER of variables is unknown.

Suppose (just put down your glass of pinot noir) that Sadam Hussein had sold… not a 1000 tons… not a hundred tons… not even one ton… maybe just a few gallons of this nefarious compound to al Qeada?

OH! Oh yes there were NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

(PLEASE, if you do not understand the concept of “decision matrix”… DO NOT jump in here and show your…)

This is way too complex for left wing nuts to understand.  They can't even comprehend simple numbers like deficits, unemployment, etc.  Quadratic equations?  Forget it!

1,000 tons equal 2 million pounds of chemical weapons. Geez, I seem to remember all the speculation about Iraq moving the chemical weapons they had to Syria as being dismissed by the left.............what a surprise.  Saddam must be looking up in pride.

And now it looks like we are going to war on behalf of al Quaeda.  And without congressional approval or even consultation.  My how the worm has turned.  Remember W being excoriated even though he got congressional approval?  We will have none of that for this military action.  I wish I could say that now any GOP president can get away with repeatedly violating federal laws, using drones to kill American citizens and going to war when it pleases them but I recognize the hypocrisy and double standard of the left and the govt media and won't pretend to expect otherwise.

Okay... simplify... there is a very simple and adequate solution:

The Islamic world will despise us for interfering. Any weapons supplied to any side of the conflict will be eventually turned on us. If our cruise missiles or smart bombs kill any civilians… or even if they don’t… we’ll be excoriated in the media (not that Muslims are hesitant to shoot or blow up their own women and children).  Even if we DO NOT get involved, we will be blasted by the media. So… in the face of “d@mned if you do and d@mned if you don’t”… let’s just let the Muslims sort it out for themselves.

We should not turn the other cheek… we should turn our back… sadly and wisely so.

Supporting Islamic experiences:

Iraq – (Oh yes… they’ll embrace democracy and stop massacring each other)

Iran – (How’s that “red line” working out?)

Libya – (here’s another “Iran Contra” failure in the Muslim world)

Egypt – (ah! Such good friends)

Afghanistan – (We watched the Soviets learn a lesson we failed to heed.)

Pakistan – (ah! Such good friends)

Palestine – (Remember the “Camp David Accords”?)

And now, tell me again how we are going to police Syria.

Our only real successes in the middle east were fleeting.  Ghadafi behaved after we dropped a few bombs on him and Egypt was not openly antagonistic toward Israel.  SOTUS is grasping major defeat from the jaws of those minor victories.

Speaking of arming our enemies, great book to read about Afghanistan if you want yet another proof that there is nothing new under the sun.  It is called "Return of a King:  The Battle for Afghanistan" by William Dalrymple. Chronicles the foibles of the British and Russians in the late 1800's trying to kingdom build in Afghanistan.  Short story, they sent in 50,000 troops and a handful got out alive.  Truly there is nothing new under the sun.

We need to become energy independent and let the middle east return to the 6th century where their ideology and religion belong.

Christianity has a well documented history of barbaric behavior. I’m not hearing any Christians deny that.  The major accomplishment has been the personalization of the religion… an increasingly smarter and critical body of adherents.

Christians (and Jews)  are able to veto forced conversion, crusades (jihad by Christians abetted by the church), and cruel enforcement of religious tenets. The mature religion allows that “coming to God” is a personal decision. The mature Christian recognizes the evolution of the “Children of God” from the failed, church imposed, warlike Zionism punctuated by periods of decadence – to the accommodation of the weaknesses of God’s people through the gift of grace offered in the New Testament.

Jihad and grace are mutually exclusive. To put it a more simple context, Christianity has matured into a deserving civility. Islam has not yet.

In your words, MM,
“We need to become energy independent and let the Middle East return to the 6th century where their ideology and religion belong.”

Amen to that.
