Has anyone left there pontoon in lake for winter. Even if it sits on lakebed is that an issue.

I have left my there several times.  Make sure there are no rocks under it.  To drain the motor you will need to lower it down which my require digging a hole.

To me it seems like a terrible idea. Even if it is covered.

Ok.....why? Just thinking of down side versus trailering out....it's tied to my floating dock. Probably will be in water year round unless goes too low

Ours stays in year round.  We do not have a trailer for it.  It has sat on the ground before.  We just make sure to keep the motor in the water so it won't freeze.

Just prepare the engine for storage.  Matters not where the boat is.  My .02 worth.

Bought my pontoon in 2007.  It hasn't left the water yet except to have toons cleaned and occasional preventive maintenance.  Lots of algae will grow on the toons.  That is probably only downside.  Use  Zep Clearshell on the interior to prevent mildew.

Depends on how low is too low. We keep ours in the water, tied to the floating dock, and at 480 the motor probably has two feet of water under the prop. No problems yet. If it gets "too low" do you have an option to lash the toon perpendicular to your floating dock, with the motor farther out, to help ensure the lower end stays in water? Do you know what the bottom is like under your mooring site? If silt or mud you most likely will be OK, even if the water gets really low, with the motor in its highest raised poition. I had to put stilts on my floating boat slip becuse there is a rock seam under it that is very uneven and would tend to break it apart if I let it settle onto the bottom. If the bottom under your toon is similar you might want to think again about leaving it in under extremly low water condtions. That being said, the water level has been following the allowance curve more closely this year than any in the past that I can remember. You'll probably be OK (but have a contingency plan just in case!). And, finally, heed CAT's advice to have your motor ready for the winter.

Something to consider, if you wait too long, and the water is dropping, you may not be able to get it out.  Either it's too grounded or the level gets too low to get it on a trailer at a ramp.  Before I got a lift, I would detach my floating pier and tie it off with 2 ropes and keep it pushed out so it stayed floating.  That kept the boat tied and covered in about 4' of water.  But I live close and come every weekend year-round.

Decided to pull out and have winterized. Maybe will reconsider if we do 483 in future.
