Can a president be impeached for lying? Here's my example: Say I run for president and my "platform" is that I will give everyone that votes for me a "million" dollars. I win the election, but then I tell all those who voted for me that I simply miscalculated and that I don't have a "million" dollars to give them. I won the election but I lied to all my constituents. How many lies(that are documented) has Obama told the American people about Obamacare which has resulted in them being unable to keep the insurance they had, their premiums skyrocketing if they were able to keep their insurance, their loss of insurance if their employer dropped coverage for their employees, their loss of their job because their company laid them off because of rising costs due to Obamacare, and the list goes on. Democrats are now calling for a delay in implementation of the "law" because after spending over $600 billion dollars of taxpayer dollars, the system for people to sign up for insurance has failed. It seems a bit ironic that the proposal made by the Republicans to delay implementation of the law that if agreed to by the Democrats would have precluded the "Government Shutdown". Someone has got to take control of this "runaway" government that we are being forced to endure. Our government is there to carry out the " will " of the people, not to support the desire of "one" man to "socialize" our Country. In closing, did anyone see last night the head of Health and Human Services(Kathleen Sebillous} response to the outcry for her to resign? She said she "did not" work for the people who were calling for her resignation, that she was responsible to the people who put her in her position. She sounds like Hilary Clinton when she responded to the BENGHAZI ATTACK",and I quote, "At this point what difference does it make?"

I think the standard is a criminal act. The reason Slick Willie was impeached was because he committed perjury...he lied to a grand jury. He was disbarred for those lies. However, the Senate did not convict so he skated even though he was most certainly and inarguably guilty of perjury.
The reason Nixon was threatened with impeachment was because of what I believe were baseless charges that he committed a crime. The reason he resigned was because there were Republicans that had scruples and there were Republicans that feared the political damage and they stood up and told him to resign. And unlike Clinton he actually thought more about the harm to the country and the office of the president and did the right thing.
Sadly, in the modern Democrat party there are are no scruples....only the raw desire for power and wealth. And that means circling the wagons no matter what........

Impeachment is for, if I remember correctly, "high crimes and misdemeanors", whatever that means.

I recently came across a statement that Mike Huckabee made as he was commenting on President Obama's reaction to the Benghazi attack and the explanation given about what caused the attack.Mr. Huckabee said our "trust" as a nation is built on our ability to know that when our "president", whoever he is, Democrat or Republican, looks us straight in the eye and tells us something, we ought to know he is telling us the truth. There has been numerous times when President Obama has appeared on TV promoting Obamacare that he said, " if you like your insurance plan you can keep your insurance plan, if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor, PERIOD". It has now come to light that the President knew as early as December 2010 that those statements to the American people were not true .We try to teach our children that lying is not acceptable and not condoned, however, it is OK for our President to lie to mislead and gain approval for Obamacare which the American people don't want. If we let the Government and the Supreme Court get away with forcing us to " buy" insurance, there is " nothing" they cannot force us to do. The Constitution says that our Government is supposed to be "of the people, for the people, and by the people". We have let people like Harry Reid, and the like, represent themselves instead of "we the people". Why else do they always "exempt" themselves from the laws they pass for "we the people". It is apparent they consider themselves "better" than "we the people". It is high time that "term limits" be imposed on members of Congress. Why do they deserve to have a job for life regardless of their performance? I don't have any sympathy for anyone who pass laws on someone else, and then "exclude" themselves from the same laws.
