This weather has made me a lot more anxious about what is going on with the temperature at my lake cabin.

Wifi thermostats look like and option but with a price range of $99 to $350 I have questions.

The ability to check and reset the temperature from my phone or computer seems like it might be worth the investment.  I also like the idea of setting the tempurature as I leave for the lake or when I forget.

There is not normal schedule for the lake house so how do you program it.

Does one of them have something that would work for Occupied / Vacant with an easy switch back and forth?

Thanks for your help.

My son uses the Nest sold at Lowe's and likes it alot.  It keeps him informed about the temp and he can control it from his phone or computer.  He has not had any problems with it so far.  His about a year old.

I second the nest. Great product, great support, I would however put your modem and router on a surge protector with battery backup to avoid wifi interruptions. You need wifi to communicate with the nest.

you might  check specs on the Nest.  Great device as others have noted but when I last looked it did not reset after power outages.  Problematic if you have as many outages as we do @ our lake place and live as far from it as we do.  Sort of defeats the purpose of its many wonderful remote features.

I got the Honeywell also. LOVE it! I just set it for an "away" schedule and then do temporary holds when someone goes to the lake house. I'm really digging it. While it was cold last week, I could pull up the app and see what the house temp and outside temp was. It took me about 30 minutes to install.

Peace,

<><

I've had the nest for almost 2 years.  Absolutely love it!
