Drove by there two weekends ago.  It looked pretty much like normal, did not look see a bunch of empty lots.  I guess rent is now free so they might as well stay as long as they can.

I don't recall reading of any problems.  They are set up for pump out of the "RV"s there.  Perhaps someone with direct knowledge can elaborate.  Nevertheless, if I had a place there, I would be worried someone might find a "greywater" excuse to shut it down.

I think this whole thing is a big mess. I do feel sorry for residents that were not given the full set of facts, but I think that the blame sits squarely with Ms. Walter.  If I were a resident I would be pretty upset if I were told  by her that everything was up to code and yet it wasn't.  I can't really blame AL Power for stepping in and doing something when she would not.  I think I am going to write about his for my Lake Magazine article.

John, you may be able to answer this question. When did Talapoosa County start requiring septic systems to be permitted and inspected? I was thinking about ten years or so ago but I could be wrong.

that's a great question. I don't really know. I will ask some contractors but that sounds about right to me.

That being the case the park was started about 47 years ago so none of those systems were permitted and just like everywhere else in the county installers did it how every they felt would work best. Now they are doing it the same as the civilized world does it but want PPP to come with documents that do not exist. As I remember during the time PPP was being set up any time a new place was being set up the guy at the time Tommy Walker I think was his name would get an approval from APCO to let them know what kind of trailer, year size ect and also where it was being set up, I remember folks waiting on them to come and inspect the lot before they said ok. This also included where the septic system would be attached, so APCO has had a freakin hand in this from the beginning and they now claim they had no idea this was going on in the park is total BS. They also came out and inspected every dock improvement that took place and put their permit on it after final inspection. Some Attorney should file a class action suite over this, the way this is being handle is criminal in my opinion. Folks are going to walk away from tens of thousands of dollars of hard earned money as every place there was not worth what was paid, a single wide trailer, 2 bd 1 bh on a leased lot, no garage, small lot, a dock, pier, decks would sell for say $70,000.00, the trailer they can pull out of there would be worth say $20,000.00 at best and that is after paying $3,000.00-$4,000.00 to have it moved. It would not surprise me if the real reason come out soon and everyone knows what APCO had planned all along for that land. Must be something big, the Marina, boat ramp and boat storage areas are not being removed from the project and I'd bet Mrs. Walker was paid for the value of the improvements made to those areas before she walked away but that is just my opinion. Sorry for the rant but this really pisses me off, I sold a young couple the place I use to have and they paid cash from an inheritance to get it. They will walk away from a lot of money and that is sad. Should the HOBO's not be knee deep in something like this to see f they are being trated fairly?

Hello everyone...I have sympathy for these folks but I also have a unit in Lakeview Park. This property is owned by Al. Power.

It has been leased to the same family for maybe 50 yrs. I have been there for 18 yrs. From the first day of my lease I was told

I could add on ,remodel or spend what ever but if Al.Power refused to renew at any time I was screwed. I also have a business in a leased

building (23yrs.) and thats pretty much what that lease says.I guess what im saying is leasing is a crap shoot. My time is up and I thank

you for yours...Good Day

..be knee deep in this but you will never see it happen.  The HOBO's don't want no stinkin' trailers on their lake.  You must be outta your mind to even suggest such silliness.

Is that good enough Mahria or should I go on?

Mrs Walter had many more years left on her lease with apco. She received a letter from apco in 2012 requiring her to do a survey of the septic tanks in the park. In November of 2012, the residents of the park received a letter from Mrs Walter stating her lease would be on hold while the survey was being done. Mrs Walter then stated to the residents that the survey would begin in early 2013 and be patient while the digging was being done. In May of 2013 Mrs Walter was confronted by some residents - why hasn't the survey started? Her statement to the resisents was that she was not going to pay for it. So in turn she continued to take the residents' rent money, allowing new familys to purchase homes while saying everything is okay - there are no problems. Then in July here comes the health dept looking for violations and all they could come up with was some minor gray water issues. No sewage was found going into the lake. In August apco sends Mrs Walter an eviction notice so I have to assume apco has figured out she had no plans to comply with apco's requirements. Since this property belongs to apco they had to do what was necessary to conform to the health dept. In turn apco evicts all the residents. The residents contacted an engineer to plan out a solution and it was presented to apco by the residents with $500,000 on the table and apco said NO. There is documentation that a resident asked HOBO to support the residents of PPP during this time - they said NO.

For what it is worth, the re-licenses process started on June 8 2011. So I gain state this was planned way before anything addressed to Mrs. Walker. One thing that come to mind, there is a very nice protected cove on the back side of the park, that would make a very nice docking area for a large marina that is lacking in this area of the lake, hwy 34 runs almost right to it, Just Sayin.......

People need to wise up septic tanks and grey water was smoke and mirrors. Check the Proposed FERC agreement PPP was intended to be taken out of the agreement as far back as 2011. Also politicians in Montgomery are getting the company line of pollution problems but since some are in the pockets of APco what else do you expect.wise up lake Martin APco is not your friend.

Hearing AL Power business practices at Lake could get review and some recommending Corps of Engineers assume Lake management. Truth re PP may eventually come out as underlings get interviewed. Guess right in...if management power transferred no one would wonder if decisions are on up and up. Future as always may be interesting...
