I cant understand why there are no better choices for dining on Lake Martin when traveling by boat! Last year it seemed everywhere I went had issues. Chuck's only had one pizza oven working-almost a two hour wait for your Pizza. Kowaliga was just plain awful and the service was worse. Harbor Docks was closed when we went there and seemed to be out of menu selections whenever they are not.  It would seem that if somebody would put in the effort  to achieve quality food service they would have the market to themselves.

biggest issue I hear from restraunt owners is getting reliable help; I know thats what caused 2 eateries to close; plus its a seasonal business

When Greg Cecil was running Kowaliga he did great business almost every night in the warm months, and good enough in the winter to survive. And that was some 25 years ago, when there were fewer people on the lake. It can be done. Not just anybody can do it, but is has been done, and can be done again.

I've had mostly good experiences at Harbor Docks and Chucks and I'll continue to go back. I'm not a fan of Kowaliga, but thats mostly a personal issue. I've never had a bad meal at my home on the lake so no complaints there....for the most part, I think we have it pretty good given the circumstances. If you think you can do better and can make the grade, you'll have my support.

Was it just a rumor or did I hear that Cat was opening a BBQ place on the lake?

I too remember when Greg ran the place. My family and I went there often. Most of the time we had to wait for a table. The food was simple but done right and the customers supported it. The Kowaliga restaurant is a beautiful place which is deserving of a nice dining experience - not only lake residents but people who will drive a long distance just to enjoy the lake while having a meal. I hope that we will all see a better run operation this season.

I 100% agree with everything you said EOTL!  I just hate that Kowaliga didn't turn out to be good but it certainly DID NOT!!  The food is too expensive for BAD food!  One thing to pay for good food but I just can't justify overspending for BAD food!
