Judging from the past few years will the water level be maintained at 489 instead of the "rule" 490 full pool?

Very rarely is the level maintained at 490 for extended periods.  It will ususally reach it on target as scheduled then drop back to an average of 489 for most of the season.  Your time on the lake will be much more enjoyable if you accept this and look at 489 as full pool and anything above that as a bonus.  In many years it will even drop to 488 or so late in the season if it is a dry summer.  I prefer to enjoy the 489' we do have as opposed to fretting about the 1' we may not.  Actually as the lake gets more and more crowded I enjoy the lower level even more becasue it affords many more opportunities to find a nice soft beach to land at and enjoy hanging with freinds.

This is just my opinion of course based on 55 years of being blessed to be on the best lake east of the Missippii ( and maybe west of also ).

After 2007 when we parked our boats on Memorial Day for the remainder of the summer if 489 is considered "full pool" so be it.

Agree, after 07 we are very lucky. Just be blessed with what we have.

The "rule" is a max level for the lake. When water is abundant, you will typically see at least 6-8" below the rule. If there are big rains, the level may go over the rule but will always be reduced below the rule rather quickly. If there are dry spells (like 2007), levels will obviously drop far below the rule. I've always considered anything above 487 full.

489 gives APCo a little bit of wiggle room in case of heavy rains when the lake is full or close to full.  If the lake basin is getting what is falling on me right now (and I'm in Wetumpka), 490+ could happen real soon.

The water level on this site's home page hasn't moved appreciably, yet there has been a ton of rain.  That water has to be somewhere!
