I wanted to share this link.  My family and I will be on House Hunters May 26, 2014 @ 9:00pm.  We purchased a house on Lake Martin.

Here’s the HGTV link (which you can watch for later airings as well):

Sandycreek....it was indeed a pleasure meeting you yesterday as you rode your seadoo in our slough while looking at the house across from us. If you ever have HVAC, please do not hesitate to call my friends at R & R Refrigeration. We look forward to watching the show Monday evening and welcome to Lake Martin.

Hopefully it's not like the episode of the Terrell Owens reality show that was in Alex City. They made it sound like a bad place to live.

I knew  / know Terrell. I was one year ahead of him in school so we had a lot of interactions over 11 years of school. After I watched that show about his dad I was really moved and it put a totally new perspective on him for me.

This show seems so fake but this is only my opinion

Welcome to Lake Martin!  We hope you will enjoy the area.

We watched the program tonight, and think you made the right choice in choosing number two.

Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances are nice but trendy.

In ten years, real estate agents will have us begging for avacado appliances and Formica again.

It is function over form that is the most important discriminator.

Function survives when form is long gone.

Hope you enjoy your new home.

You really think granite is "trendy"?  Just a matter of time before Formica and linoleum rule the day again huh?  Not a chance.  The show was a good one, the lot selected was a great one and that price point was a good one and leaves some cash for the upgrades.  Couple of points.  The first house was NOT vinyl siding it was hardy plank...a bit of an upgrade to vinyl.  Also no discussion of water levels at the dock.  Anybody that's been at the lake more than a few years can attest to the fact that generally flat lots mean early loss of water in drought times.  I remember 2007 well and many "flat" lots could only look at the water in the distance.  So there are pros and cons to very decision.  Looks like you make a good decision for your family...congrats.

The first decision you made was the most important, and that was Lake Martin. Move in, get a good feel for your location. Meet ALL your neighbors and get to know them. Not too much,, too fast.

Visit the Forum often on advice for all kinds of ideas for services. Offer your own recommendations also to others. And, if you want granite or vinyl or whatever,, get it as quick as you can. The WATER will soothe you not your counter tops.

Welcome to Sandy Creek, Sandycreek! Those of us that live here, think it's the best part of the lake. My husband and I watched the show last night and,  at the end of the show, you went right by our house (couldn't see our house because it was set back, but saw our neighbor's seawall and boathouse)! We just went by your place on our Waverunner. Glad you picked that house! When you are out and about on the lake, and go straight out from your house, instead of turning right through the islands , if you look left you will see a long house with a red metal roof, with a sailboat in front and an Auburn lighthouse on the swimming dock, that's us. Stop by and say hi!

SandyCreek--- welcome! We also live on Sandy Creek and LOVE it here. We bought our house last year. We watched the show last night and it was cool seeing all the famliar sites. You chose the right house! The lot is what it is all about. We are towards the end of Sandy Creek on Quail Hollow and hope to see you around! It looks like you are off Susannah Rd. too. I hope you and your family enjoy it here as much as we do.
