I hope everyone has a happy and thankful Memorial Day holiday. Please stay safe on the lake and if you have to leave the lake, I hope you have a safe journey home. Please remember all of our brothers and sisters serving in our military to protect and keep us free and safe. May GOD bless our armed forces where ever they may be.......

I let the others have the lake. Water so choppy that My pontoon bounced 16 hours a day Saturday and Sunday. Lucky that the floating dock chains didn't snap. So I'll crank up and take a long cruise Tuesday when the water is calm.

Some pretty scary sights out there this weekend and yesterday.

I guess, to me, the people pulling 4 (10 or so age) kids on tubes at the mouth of

Blue Creek was the worst sight.

The kids weren't wearing life preservers. Man, oh, man.

Very quiet and relaxing this morning. The traffic over the weekend was the heaviest I've seen in a few years. We used the boat as transportation to a few parties but that was it.

We visited kids and g-kids yesterday at their place and were delayed in returning until about 7:45 PM by the rain storm.  As many boats as we saw all weekend, we saw none, not one, on the thirty minute ride back home.  I don't like boating at night on the lake when all the weekend idiots are out, but it was eerily quiet last night....good, cool ride.

Oops, I was reminded the trip started about 8:15 PM, just about good dark

Memorial Day what can you say. Good luck to the guy I saw yesterday towing kids through the crowd at chimney rock at full speed. And I really thank the guy that ran his boat at full wake past our floating dock while I stood on it with my 3 year old granddaughter while his stereo blasted so loud my fillings vibrated.

Seriously some people just don't have a clue when it comes to safety or courtesy.

I am always glad when the really crazy people go home. Never left the dock myself.

I agree. It seems that more folks just don't care or have any respect for anybody or thing, except what they are doing.

"Full wake past our floating dock" describes almost every boat I saw this weekend.

Maybe they don't know. Probably they don't care. Either way, there are always a lot of BAD boat drivers on the water every weekend, especially holiday weekends.

I was shocked as well to see boats pulling tubes in the main channels, especially under the Kowaliga Bridge!  Jet skis zipping back and forth looking for every opportunity to find the wake of a passing boat.  One thing I noticed, the most irresponsible boaters seemed to be in brand new boats or jet skis....probably boating for the first time with no training or experience.

Not too bad in Sandy Creek area, maybe a little more traffic than usual.  Worst I saw was a guy on a jet ski with three kids pulling a tube with three kids.  At least they were wearing life jackets but I doubt he thought through the fact that if the float goes down he gets to decide who gets left in the water while he takes the first group home.  Not to smart, not to mention illegal. Otherwise not too bad.

i admit though I avoid the main channel and Chimney Rock for all the reasons described above.

Official Opening Day for the Lake!! But, more importantly, and less glamorous, the day that we honor those who sacrificed so much for us. We many times forget.

My flag  was new,,, early Monday it was raised to the top of the mast, then slowly lowered to half staff where it rested until 12:00 Noon. Then raised briskly to full mast. My neighbors are surely glad I do not have a small cannon to go along with the ritual.

God bless our military men and women who continue to protect us from harm. Perhaps He knows why,,,,

If you are talking about the silver Yamaha that is about two years old - they do that every weekend they are out.  It is not just a holiday gig.  PAFS....

Maybe, I've just never noticed him before.  If I get the opportunity I am going to at least tell him its illegal. Maybe if common sense and a desire to protect the kids won't fix it his desire to not be cited might.
