I installed cameras in the house that are motion activated and some that are not as they point outside, one at the lake and the other at the driveway.  I should have never put the one that points at the lake.  I look at them pretty much every day and when the weather is gorgeous like it has been lately I find myself frittering away the time watching what I can't be there to see.  I guess its better than nothing......but not much, and maybe worse.

Is it summer yet?

Pretty windy today, with temps in the 60s.  Fantastic, but not a day to be boating around so much.  Enjoy your remote view.

I have one too. Originally to keep an eye on my dock to monitor conditions of my boat as the water rises and falls. Mine connects by wifi so it will disconnect at times. Find myself getting real frustrated when I can't take a look.

Same here.  I got it because the deer eat all my vegetables out of the garden at night.  I like to catch them from my laptop and turn on the sprinklers remotely to run them off.

One time I caught my neighbor getting cozy on my hammock with his girlfriend.

I burned it as soon as I arrrived.

Nasty sob.

Never had the hammock incident but I do see people going out on my dock and just enjoying the lake.

Mind if I ask which brand of camera ya'll use and how well they perform?  I want to install some around my residence/docks.

Thanks!

Mine are from a product called VueZone and the cameras connect wirelessly but you do need internet to see them.  Comes with a router that you connect to your internet router and the tiny cameras can be mounted wherever.  They use batteries that seem to last forever.  If you just want to look at them its a free service. If you want motion detection I think its like $59 per year, which I did and it works great.  Any motion and I get an instant text message and email notification.  You can set them for bright light, etc. and they have an app for the iphone and ipad.  Total setup with four cameras was around $300 or so.  Seems to work pretty well except when you lose internet or power.  Resetting them remotely doesn't seem to work well.  I am sure there are much

Do they have a recording capability?

Excellent report; I will look into this equipment, but I believe it is just what I have been looking for.

Warm Regards,

Zman

When activiated they will record for 90 seconds.  Plenty of time to capture whoever set it off.

....those cameras don't come close to doing justice as to what you are missing!!  This is the absolute best time of year to be here.  Moderate temps with low humidity(most days), cool temps at night, and the water temp still tolerable.  Although the water temp I'm sure has dropped a few degrees this week.  Two weeks ago was was absolute perfection, the air and water temps were the same.

Now don't you feel better?

Damn, the weather has been great but do you really need to kick a good man when he's down? lol. Disreguard, MM.  Tune in your cameras on Sunday and you will see. If the forecast is correct, you should record it and watch it when you think your missing something. Then again, even a rainy day at the lake is a good day.

Well it does not appear to be working......in fact, I feel worse.....hey, maybe you weren't trying to make me feel better at all!  Summer is just around the corner....once we get through the fall, summer and spring......now I am really depressed.

Don't worry if you missed last week, this week is just more of the same.  Sooner or later you will get to be here for some of it....maybe.  I thought I remembered you saying you would be back the last weekend of September.  I guess life got in the way.  Sux when that happens.  Next time you get over let me know and I will pick some fresh turnip greens from the garden and bring them over for you and the family to make up for such mean posts.  I have more than we can eat this year.  At the rate you are going this year I may even have Broccoli before you get here....lol.
