I'm looking to purchase a new Tri toon. Looking at Bennington, Southbay and Aqua patio. Any advise? Has anyone priced boats lately. I'm in shock, then again it's been 10 years since I bought my last boat.

We sell New Southbay Pontoons.  All the brands you mentioned above are great boats.  If you give me a few specifics I will be glad to contact you with a price.

I love my Bennington, but not happy at all with the dealer choices at Lake Martin. I wish Cathouse carried Bennington! I'm not very familiar with Southbay, but you should test drive a Bennington with ESP performance handling package and/or the Manitou SHP handling package (Premier also has a good high end handling package). All three of these boats are very nimble and are miles ahead of a typical pontoon in handling and performance. Other companies have started to realize their shortcomings and have started throwing some players into the competition. If shopping, my plan would be to try Southbay with their best package after experiencing ESP or SHP. If the Southbay holds its own againts these boats (or even if it doesn't), you won't go wrong with a purchase from the Cathouse. Good honest reliable service means A LOT!

Good advice from all but one thing to consider is if you really want/need a tritoon.  They do have a couple of distinct advantages with the biggest being added weight capacity and usually extra storage but in many instances the perfaormance enhancements can be acheived without the added expense of the third tube.  Some, if not all,  manufacturers now offer performance enhancement packages that will boost perfromance without adding a tube.  Contrary to popular belief just adding the third tube doesn't increase the boats handling in a very significant way.  You can't go wrong doing business with CAT but make sure you check out the G3 line also.  G3 is wholly owned by Yamaha and makes a great boat.  I haven't kept up with what is available on any of lines the last couple of years but I really like the new seat designs and layouts, especially the rear facing loungers.

I have a Bennington tri-toon with 200 yahama and love the performace. It has the performace pgk. It will turn on a dime and it's 27' long. As for seating I decided not to get the rear facing lounger because it takes those sitting there out of the conversation of the rest of the boat. Go to a boat show this winter and look at all the different boats but buy from someone who will give you good service.

We love our 26 ft. 2006 Bennington tri-toon  w/ 150 Yamaha that we bought new from Brech Marine in Selma. It has been trouble free and they come over to Lake Martin every fall to winterize it for us.  We will purchase another Bennington from them. Their service is absolutely the best.

I disagree. The engineering and setup of the strakes and lift of the center tube make a huge differnce on the specifically engineed performance packages. There are many pontoons with 3 tubes and strakes and are only average or below in handleing. I've driven a G3 2 tube and it isnt even close to the Bennington, Manitou, or Premier performance engineering. I've never seen any other 2 tuber that comes close either, and I've driven or ridden in a lot of different boats. The high end performance sysems are worth the money for both added payload and performance. Bennington ESP will turn around at high speed as fast or faster than almost any I/O on the lake and the other brands I mentioned are similar.

I second Brech Marine. They are wonderful folks to work with. We have a 2013 Manitou with a 150 Yamaha. Great boat!

Do some homework. Go to pontoon.com and check out the PTX package video. This should help you make up your mind about a tri tube.

Check to make certain the engine is large enough to handle a performance package. Keep in mind that no one ever complains about too much horsepower.

Bennington will be my next boat - they are top rated and super nice.  Can anyone tell me why boats - especially pontoons - are so expensive compared to a car?  There is not much sophistication to them except the motor.
