You have a Republican Gov and Republican control in the legislature. Trickle down economics just doesn't work. Republicans are much better on the outside looking in and complaining. Once they gain control, they are lost. Only the top 1% does well and the state is the loser. Sad but true.

Detroit, California and pretty much every one of their large cities, New York, Chicago, the entire state of Illinios, etc., etc., etc. all under decades of Democrat control.  But back to Alabama.  The state is required to have a balanced budget.  The vast majority of the state's liability is underfunded pensions of state employees.  Yep, those sweetheart deals to state employees represent 79% of the state's liabilities.  Now for some more relevant facts, after decades of control by Democrats Republicans finally gained full control of the Alabama government in 2010, which happened to be in the midst of Obola's lousy recovery.  So historically the Alabama legislature has been controlled by Democrats until 2010.

GF, you are still stuck on stupid and your ignorance of history, facts, logic and reason have once again failed you.  So Democrats cause the problem and you expect the GOP to fix it in less than four years.  And at the same time, we are going in 7 years into Obola's presidency and you are just fine with his performance.  Why the low expectations for our black president and such high expectations for the GOP, GF? Causes one to wonder if you just have low expectations for black politicians.......ah, the soft bigtory of the left toward people of color, unless they are Republicans in which case its not all that soft.  Like shooting fish in a barrel.......

I agree--some reporter should look at liability of underfunded pensions at RSA & THE DROP PROGRAM--which is akin to welfare--some employees will walk away with $500k-$1 mill

DROP may be gone but the benefits are vested--I know a several guys who will walk away with about half a mill + his pension + insurance for life; who knows--they may give him his state car  ( he lives 4 miles from his job } !!!!!!!!

Alabama's problem has nothing to do with the color of the Prresident's skin nor the fact that gay marriage will be legal in all states by the end of 2015. Rather, as a result of the Bush caused recession, Alabama suffered a 13 billion loss in their pension fund. As of the end of 2012, they had 28 billion and needed to be at 42 billion to be fully funded. Let's see...28+13=41 hmmm kinda close to 42. You are drinking too much to see anything rational. It is always the black vs white.

As has been pointed out on numerous occasions Bush had nothing to do with the recession. It was caused by the collapse of the housing bubble caused by the government's distortion of the markets with CRA, threatening banks to force them to lend to sub standard borrowers, and Fannie/Freddie buying up mortgages. These programs were the darling of morons like Bawney Fwank and Chris Cheap Mortgage Dodd and Republicans tried to reign them in only to be called racists for wanting to prevent people from taking on debt they could not repay.  Really GF, even most libtards understand this truth.

But I noticed you had no response to who controlled the purse strings in the state until 2010. When facts, logic and reason are not on your side it is time to obfuscate. Nothing changes the fact that 79% of the deficit is underfunded pensions. That the recession was caused by Democrats and the ridiculously expensive pensions were created by Democrats makes this a Democrat problem left to the GOP to clean up.  All I am asking is that you have the same low expectations for them that you have for the black guy.  I know that is hard to do since you hold them to different standards. GF, you really make this too easy.

Approx 32% of our general fund goes to prisons.  And its getting worse by the day.  We are one of the worst States in followup, and trying to help them get back into society.  They go right back to the streets and drugs, and right back in.   Paying for the Medicare, Medicaid social programs are another story. Ear marking is another problem.  No easy solutions, so just blame it on someone and kick the bucket down the street.
