Sorry I didn't post my employment analysis last month...I was at the beach and too busy eating oysters and drinking G and T's. So sorry MM;(

1/   257,000 new jobs in January.

2/   Dec numbers revised upward 77,000 to 329,000 and Nov upped 70,000 to 423,000!  November was the BEST month for employment gains in 17 years!  MM help me remember who was in the WH in 1998.

3/   More than 1,000,000 new jobs in the last 3 months alone.  More new jobs in the last 5 month than in the 96 months from Jan 20, 2001 - Jan 20, 2009.

4/   11.3 million new jobs in the 72 months since Jan 21. 2009 which is 8.6 as many new jobs as in the 96 months between Jan 20, 2001 and Jan 20, 2009.

5/   For 12 straight months the number of new jobs has gone up more than 200,000  For 66 straight months the number of jobs has increased...sounds like those horrible years under Pres William Clinton (D) !

5/   There are now more than 2.1 million  more people working today than at the high point before the Great Bush Recession...more Americans are working today than ever in history.

6/   Number of people in the work force increased 703,000 pushing the unemployment rate up from 5.6 to 5.7%.  I heard 3 economists today proclaim this as good news.

7/   Jan saw the largest monthly increase in wages since 1999.  MM help me remember who was president in 1999.

I know lots refuse to face reality, but the evidence is that the recovery is shifting from tedid to booming!!

OK folks, as Edith Anne says  "that's the truth"...look forward to seeing what all you sheeple do to shoot down the facts...of course I realize you need to get your talking points from MM first.

Fishy...would you agree with Harry Truman..."if you want to live like a Republican you better vote like a Democrat."?

I guess I'm just a dumb ole country boy,but if 250,000 to 350,000 people file for unemployment for the first time every week for the last 6 years, and 300,000 people a month get a job, then that's at least a 750,000 per month job LOSS!

Sorry, but you are making an invalid comparison. The 2 statistics you mention are not directly related and therefore cannot be directly compared.

The monthly jobs gain is a "net" figure.  It is the number of jobs gained in the month minus the number of jobs lost for a net number positive or minus.  For January it can be said that approx 1,200,000 people lost jobs (+/- 277,000 / week) but approx 1,457,000 people found a job...1,457,000 gained - 1,200,000 lost = 257,000 net gain of jobs

The number of new unemployment claims per week is not a net number...it is the number of new claims for unemployment made in that week without taking any consideration of the number of people going off unemployment because they have found work.

The monthly jobs gain figure and the weekly increase in unemployment insurance claims are apples and oranges with no direct relationship.

It's just math.  You are not the only one to make this wrong connection.  Please do not fall for the other right wing nut job claim that 92 million are "unemployed" when it is actually 92 million that are "not working".  "Unemployed" and "not working" are also apples and oranges.  My daughter is one of those 92 million...she is "not working" because she is a stay at home mom, she is NOT unemployed! Our best friends 27 year old son is also one of the 92 million who is "not working" because he is in graduate school but he is not "unemployed".  I hope you get my point...unless you are wanting to work and can't find work you are NOT unemployed.  At least 80 million of the 92 million do not met the definition of "Unemployed".

Hope this helps

On that one I completely agree with you MM.  It is demonstrated by you and your followers right here on this forum on a regular basis that the truth can be very threatening to small and/or narrow minded people. Facts are facts whether you like it or not!!

Archie,

on the other hand, an unemployed engineer, construction worker, architect who merely works one hour a week and gets paid at leaast 20$ does not count in the unemployed ranks.  Go and Tell them that they are employed.   Look up the facts chief.....with a discerning eye you will come see that the BLS stats don't often tell the entire truth, never have, never will, regardless of whatever party is in the WH.

Gee C R,  The BLS reports certainly don't tell the whole story...and you are right, they didn't tell the whole story during the administrations of W and the sainted Ronald Reagan either...but did you bitch and moan about them then??  Be honest.

Regardless, there is no way to say that you can somehow make a valid assumption that the BLS report of a "gain" of 260,000 jobs for a month vs the BLS report of 1,200,000 new claims of unemployment insurance during the same month actually means a loss 940,000 jobs in the same month!!!

Truth is truth...facts are facts...and math is math, even in Alabama!!

What's your opinon of Judge Roy Moore?

too bad he's too closed minded to read anthing else that might shake his right wing, Obama hating, determination not to ever accept any other opinion as having any validity or even right to be expressed.  MM, the truth shall set you free!!  You can supress opinion, but not the truth.

I do appreciate your interest though.  Maybe I would read your posts if they weren't so predictable and boring.  You lurk around the jokes section commenting on other people's jokes for months at a time.  Then when some rare faux good news comes along you want to immediately give credit to your false messiah while never, ever giving him credit for all the bad news that happens in between.  And you refuse to listen to facts, logic or reason when it comes to the at best unhelpful and more often disastrous policies of dear leader.  If you were more intellectually honest, or occasionally mildly humorous like Goofy, I might read your posts.  But as always you are true to form and there is no value to engaging you in any meaningful way.  It is simply a waste of time and valuable intellect.  Some people cannot learn.

Archi,

I have more a problem with all the crowing about the fall in the unemployment rate to 5.6%  That figure is so misleading as it does not count as I said, the individual who only works 1 hour per week, the  individual with an advanced degree who flips burgers (underemployed0 and those who in the last 4 weeks are unemployed and have given up completely.  The number of FT jobs as a percent of the adult population over 18 is 44%. I have read that it should be around 50%.  Mean incomes are stagnant.  Is there any area of this Presidents and liberals expertise that can solve anything?  Foreign policy?  Immigration?  national Debt?  Terrorism?  Iran?  What a complete Cluster...k this administration has been.

As for Judge Roy,  I believe in letting the states settle this issue themselves.
