Nah, only socialist, leftist woman frequent Ashley. After all, the woman on the right have strong family values just like their hubby. The Right never strays as they profess to have a monopoly on moralistic and ethical  behavior and belief in strong familly values. Did I say strong family values and the Right in the same sentence?

The truth is the cheaters are Left and Right. To suggest otherwise is denial of the facts.

I wouldn't wish divorce on my worst enemy, so I hope this doesn't sound too callous....

I hope this divorce doesn't have a impact on how he does his job, because we really need him to get the budget passed in the Legislature or to manage a pretty bad disaster in state funding if he can't.      The loss of funding for the state parks is appaling, but the closing of rural hospitals & reduction in social/healthcare services will be be devastating to Alabama.

Breaking up with your wife while at war with your own political party has to be the worst of both worlds.

I don't like Bentley - never have and didn't vote for him.  I doubt it will affect him at his job much at all.  I think he is doing a terrible job for Alabama.  It's a disgrace that they have to close the parks and recreation; and unfund the rural health care system.  What I really resent is that he ran on the ticket this time of "all the good he's done for AL" and the day after he was inaugurated in this term, he claims the state is almost bankupt.

I'm not up on the rural medical situation in AL, but we are having problems here in GA.  Sad part is both states along with so many others have cut off their noses to spite their face by turning down the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare which would have been 100% paid for for 3 years the at least 90% thereafter*.  Unbiased analysis in GA has demonstrated that accepting the expansion would more than replace extra cost in the out years because of savings to medical services and in new jobs created.  Of course this doesn't even take into consideration it would keep rural hodpitals viable and save lives.  But, it is a program of the Obama admisistration and therefore unacceptable in the red state of GA regardless of the good it would do!  The GA legislature is not like Comgress...in congress both sides are crazy while in GA the unevolved Neanderthals mostly sit on the GOP side!

*  Yeah yeah I know it is "the peoples money paid in taxes"...very true, but it will be collected whether you like it or not and whether or not AL and GA accept their share and if they don't accept it part of your taxes will go to MA and MN instead...whether you like it or not!!

For a quick snapshot of the situation in Alabama:   Here's a link to a recent opinion piece in the Birmingham News written by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alabama Hospital Association....

Thanks for the link.  Interesting and candid piece on a disturbing issue for your state, sounds familiar. Is the Governor on board with these cuts or is it an action from the legislature?  In GA the Gen ASSembly went so far as to take away the governor's authority to ever approve any expansion of Medicaid...outrageously the governor supported their taking away his authority!

Wonder when we might expect the forum's peaNUT gallery to offer comment?

Bentley is in his second term, and didn't mention the looming state budget crisis during his reelection campaign, and has now reversed course on tax hikes.   Clearly he knew the state's financial situation, but he shocked his GOP cohorts when he revealed that only a significant tax hike can keep the state on afloat.   I think they all believed their own propaganda:  that you don't need a decent tax base to run a state, all you need to do is keep cutting back programs and services to keep going.    It's a myth that many still believe.

The legislature is chock full of anti-government sentiment, his party is calling him names, and it looks pretty grim.     Unable to grasp the severity of the situation, many legislators seem to be scurrying for cover, and pitching ideas like a lottery, or enhanced gambling revenues.... none of which can be implimented and creating the needed funds by Oct 1.

We are, here in Alabama, going to be experiencing the logical outcome of this 'all we need is less government and we'll all be better off' ideology.     The majority of state parks will be closed, and this may be the first & most direct impact that a large segment of Alabamians will feel.   We will see what happens, but my confidence level in our state legislature is much, much lower than my confidence in Congress.  Since they dont' want to raise taxes, they could raid the Education Trust Fund... never a good idea in a state already skimping on education funding.

Wind Creek is scheduled to be one of the few state parks still open for business.  I guess we could have a big increase in lake traffic & shoreline camping if the park system is still mostly closed next spring.

A well spoken and common sense explanation from one of the reasonable people on this forum.  Now l would love to have some input from the rest.  I'll bet they think things are going swimmingly in Alabama and will continue supporting less "government" (except in the bedroom of course) and lower taxes until they are personally hurt and that situation might still be a long way off for the "class" of folks dwelling aroung Lake Martin.

PS:  Hound, you may have gotten something started by pointing out a marital spat.  Well done!

When I first heard about the divorce, I wondered if it is because she disagreed with his politics!  Or perhaps she didn't want another run.  Or maybe they haven't gotten along for the last 5 years, and they were sticking it out for the sake of his political career.  But the budget situation in AL is very serious, and the legislature doens't seem to be taking it seriously.  And the governor is a worthless.

It's so easy for bleeding heart liberals to advocate for just opening the nation's wallet and help all these leeches on gubment cash, but you really have no clue as to the real healthcare problem created by o-BAMAcare, Congress, Medicaid, and Blue Cross of AL.  I'm well aware that I'm considered an idiot by you forum liberals, but you really are showing your ignorance.  Small hospitals are indeed in big trouble but it's not because smart states refused to take o-BAMA's short term freebie.  Years ago Congress dictated that all Hill-Burton hospitals must treat every patient who walks thru the doors, this was later expanded to include all hospitals who receive Fed Money (Medicare), but Congress did not plan for illegals who crowd out ERs all day, everyday.  Add to that Medicaid payments to doctors and hospitals is a loser, those payments don't even come close to covering costs of care. Add to that Blue Cross of AL controls over 80% of insurance in AL, and they force hospitals to accept what THEY want to pay, Via contracts.  The editorial written by AL Hosp Assoc is a plea to get something, anything to help stop the bleeding.  Will it help?  NO.  More Medicaid will lead to more loses for hospitals long term, not a quick fix.  What small hospitals are saying is.....send mo money and we'll last a few more months, but we'll still go broke.  Problem is free health dictated for everyone by congress years ago, compounded by BC low priced contracts, compounded by Medicaid payments that do not cover  costs.

I'm sure you wizards of liberalism have a five cent answer, but I can assure you that more Medicaid is not the answer.  BTW, you've all told everyone that I'm just a stupid redneck, but I will advise you that I have about 40 years experience in the healthcare industry....and I wasn't the janitor.

Oh, I almost forgot, 75% of all nursing home patients in Alabama are on Medicaid at a cost of about $63,000/ea/yr.  A large % of all Medicaid funds.

OK wixieland we will put down as being against requiring hospital emergency to accept any bleeding out auto crash patient or heart atack sufferers who do not have private insurance cards and that you are down with cancelling medicaid and kicking 90 year old widows out of nursing homes. Thanks for your brillant input.

PS: If you weren't the janitor, what were you? Furthermore, I do not recall saying you are a redneck ( I'm a North GA hillbilly and redneck) but I did say you submitted 2 posts with idiotic and stupid comments.  Now you can make that 3!

begins to check in (is Wixieland the only taker?). Pretty much as expected...get gubment money and gubment requirements out of everything (except the bedroom of course) and everything will be glorious and we will all live happily ever after...except those who die laying outside the hospital emergency room.

You know, I was tempted to refute your very stupid and uninformed response, but you are so far out in communist field, I won't bother.  I continue to be surprised that you make such blind proclamations with absolutely no knowledge.  Astounding.

My reply to your post was smartaxx...thank you for your equally asinine reply in which your failure to "refute" my suggestions says all we need to know.  Like most extreme right wingers, You have all the outrage but never any actual alternatives.  Astounding!!

Any other of you hardliners out there interested in doing what wixieland is unable to do?

Perhaps you are making a tongue in cheek or throw away comment but it does beg the question doesn't it?  I may need anger management because some of the folks on this forum tend to say things that infuriate me and which should infuriate any sane person.  I hope some are made exactly with that intention in mind but believe most of the these off the wall rants, including wix's, are completely serious.  Please take this into account before finalizing your advice to me.  Please remove all idelogical influences from your thinking process then carefully re-read my comments in this string and then Wixieland's comments, think about what was said and how it was said in each and then decide wherein lies the anger.

No ideology, just reading what you wrote. Granted, it's hard to understand what is in men's hearts based on what they say (especially on the internet,) but you seem an angry soul. You must get something out of it though, otherwise you would quit coming back - right? Maybe you like being angry.

You know how it is - if you aren't ageeing with the prevailing opinion, then you must be angry, crazy, unpatriotic, etc.  I never understand why some people on this forum turn to name calling when you will not capitulate to their opinion.

It seems to me that the anger managment training is needed by Wix.  He seems to be angry at the health care system.

I too find it interesting that those that damn Obamacare, never have another alternative to it.  Some have actually said they didn't think it was a problem before Obamacare.  While medicare, medicaid and BCBS are not paying enough, according to some, I wonder if the truth is that hospitals and Drs. are no longer making the obscene profits that they used to.  I had a Dr. in VA that did not take any insurance and charged $250 per visit.  I paid it out of pocket because I both liked and trusted him.  He used to complain that the only Drs. making any money these days are plastic surgeons, because all those cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance.

The post had nothing to do with "prevailing opinion" (I would assume you mean political?)

Just an observation of the attitude of a frequent poster (Architect.)

As a driveby poster, it is nice of you to stop in for one of your infrequent comments. I am surprised that you would suggest that Mr Archie needs anger management but have been so silent on the same subject regarding the numerous rants by the Right. You seem to be a perfect example of someone who is very selective and protective of the Right. It is hard to take you serious but encouraging that you are participating rather than sitting it out. I always look forward to postings.

"prevailing opinion" on this board.  Seems to me this has been discussed numerous times in the past couple of years.

GF,

I will proudly remain a drive-by poster, as like Groucho, I don't want to belong to any group that would have me as a member. It is interesting that only "group" thoughts are valid and carry any clout though. Seems like a recipe for extinction.

I  think it is funny to listen to you bunch of magpies get all worked up - Wix and Archie both, throw in a little GF and Tallulah, and now we are making sausage!!

I would say the few non far rightwing posters on this forum are about the only ones who are not angry.  Expressing an opinion and using facts to counter another opinion is not an expression of anger.  It brings to mind Sen Sam Irvin's comparison of VA, SC and his beloved NC "North Carolina is a cool valley of humility between two mountains of conceit and arrogance".

The few of us are valleys of reason and serenity completely surrounded by mountains of unreasonable fear and anger.
