Here is another example of why big government is so bad. They get in the way of a major auto company that rigged emission tests results. As the Right says, smaller government and I am sure Volkswagen agrees with them.

"Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) shares plunged by nearly 20 percent on Monday after the German carmaker admitted it had rigged emissions tests of diesel-powered vehicles in the United States, and U.S. authorities said they would widen their probe to other automakers.

German officials, alarmed at the potential damage the scandal could inflict on its car industry, urged Volkswagen to fully clear up the matter and said it would investigate whether emissions data had also been falsified in Europe.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Friday the world's biggest carmaker by sales used software for diesel VW and Audi branded cars that deceived regulators measuring toxic emissions and could face penalties of up to $18 billion."

when the GOVT fines big companies , where does the $$$ go ??? heres a novel idea, donnt allow installment payments, demand a lump-sum, &  apply  it straight to the DEFECIT, then watch stock market rise; one of the main reasons I support a businessman for PRES is I think they will be tuned in to finally start some plan to reduce the defecit; if not, as Daddy used to say, the Poor house is just down the road

Let's see, when you compare all the damage done by big gov't and the little good they do I think your position that big government is bad is very rational.

As for VW, sounds like a great time to get their stock on the cheap.  As for me, I love my Audi A8 turbodiesel.  Gets 26mpg in the city and 40 on the highway.  Great car and fun to drive.

Tell what your mileage is after they recall and reprogram the emission software. However, the only Audi mentioned so far is the 3 model.

What US state was your Audi assmebled????

Wonder iff MM is aware that his Audi is today worth maybe 2/3ds of what it was last week thanks to the willingness of a private company to lie and cheat to satisfy shareholder greed. Think I would wait a few more days before doing any bargain hunting.

Audi was assembled in Deutschland, shipped here and sold by Americans, serviced by Americans, fueled by Americans, etc.  My other vehicles, mostly Honda's, were all assembled in the US of A by non union workers.  Great product at a competitive price.
