There have been several posters decrying congress not responding to issues the way they think it should based on polls showing public support...course l'm still wonder why these same folks aren't therefore demanding universal firearms sale background checks based on overwhelming support in the polls.

Out today from this poll which usually leans Republican:

Democrats in congress......disapproval exceeds approval 40%...AWFUL!!!

Republicans in congress....disapproval exceeds approval 60%...YOU CALL IT!!!

Wix, where did I make any claim that Quinnipiac was conservative (or liberal for that matter).  I said it leans Republican.  In fact it is known for accuracy rather than bias.  Almost all polls, once the vote is in, are found to skew toward one side or the other to a lesser or greater extent.  If you look at the Quinnipiac record you will find that its results usually slightly over-estimates the Repub support and slightly under-estimates the Dems.

Wixieland, you need to do some research on occasion before popping off. 

Bottom line...the great American public strongly dislikes the Democrats in Congress and absolutely hate the Republicans.  You are living in a portion of the world populated by people whose opinions are not even close to reflecting the nation as a whole.  Maybe you need to get out more.

BTW: While you are looking check out some of the other polls...most of them have an even wider gap between the parties.

Mr H l think it is because of the completely political way districts are drawn.  Modern technology lets state legislatures pack a few districts such that the opposing party will win those districts by 75% to 85% and the remaining majority of districts with enough voters to assure "their" party candidate wins but by only 58% to 65%.  Either way all districts are skewed so expertly that most people in those districts are very biased one way or the other.

In the last election l believe 13 of the 14 GA districts were decided by a vote spread of 24% or more.  I long for the day for truly competitive districts where the vote spread is in the single digits.  When we get to that place there will be no need for term limits...we will have terms limits called elections.

It has been said that once the voters chose their representatives, today the representatives choose their voters.

You might also ask Mr H,  who is Wix to judge?  He and a substantial chunk of this forum have certainly done plenty of it on this forum for a long time.  In another but related issue in which Wix is so often a "participant"...
