Finally watched the video and I have to say it looked pretty bad.  The guy with the knife didn't look like he was threatening the officers and once he was down from the first shots I couldn't see any reason to shoot him again.  I am thinking this officer needs to plea bargain and plan to spend a lot of time in prison.

Apparently the Officer involved has a history of violence.  I agree with you about the film.

Yes the video is very bad but it should not be first degree murder. Sixteen shots was way over the line but when the victim spun around with the knife he might have thought he was about to be attacked. Research the 21 foot rule and they were closer than that. The officer should be tried but not for first degree. The reason for this charge is to keep Chicago from burning down. Strange that no one is concerned with the 411 that have been killed so far this year. None the less he will not get a fair trial and will be found guilty which he should but on a lesser charge i think.

As I understand it the 21 foot rule only applies prior to the officer pulling his weapon.  I think there are different criteria once the weapon is pulled.  I agree the murder should not be premeditated and I also agree he may have some difficulty getting a fair trial in Chicago.  But I don't think an indictment in this case was just to quell the mobs, it was well deserved.

As for the murders in Chicago, it is indeed a tragedy that this doesn't get much more attention than this sorry event.  But that is the world we live in with the leftist media complex.
