hope for a serious answer.  The strong supporters of minimal gun restrictions tend to be supportive of the idea that we would be a safer nation if we have an unsestricted right of any licensed gun owner to take a concealed loaded weapon anywhere anytime.  If that is so why do the sponsors of gun shows refuse to let anyone enter with a loaded gun, concealed or otherwise?  I am not a supporter of the current gun culture and proud of that non-support. Shouldn't the supporters of the otherside, both show sponsors and gun owners, remove this restriction.  If its ok to go packing into a bar or classroom or church, shouldn't that same 2d amendment right extend to a gunshow?

I suspect that the reason is the same that most gun stores and pawn shops don't want people bringing loaded guns into their businesses because of fear of robbery.

How often are you aware of people carrying a concealed weapon, given that "concealed" means you can't see it?  If I have mine in my purse, will you know it is there?  But I respect the rights of businesses and other venues to make the "no guns" rule and don't take it anywhere it is prohibited.

When Texas passed their open carry rule, a lot of my more liberal, Texas living friends were up in arms.  But other than a few fools who got on the capitol steps and waved their guns around, will it change anything?  Alabama has open carry and I never see anyone other than law enforcement and the occassional hunter on the street open carrying.

Good question to which I have no good answer. All it would take to have a loaded weapon is to cut the zip tie and load it up. I think it's just a symbolic gesture to appease non-attendees and perhaps to keep attendees safe from the one person who knows nothing of gun safety and has brought Grandpa's old gun it to sell. I am sure there are numerous concelaed weapons at every show. Personally, having them disabled make me less able to fully inspect the firearm and for that reason I do not like it.

Actually the inspection and tie wraps are a good idea. Someone carrying puts his pistol in a holster and rarely pulls out. He knows it's loaded and treats it as such. At a gun show some fools now and then bring loaded ones in.  The attendees vary all across the board in firearms skill. There they pick them up, cycle the action,  point them-hopefully at the roof- and some even dry fire them. This system works rather well with very few incidents. The proof of the pudding.....

If guns cause shootings as our dear leader has said why doesn't it happen at a gun show rather than a gun free zone?

If the "fools" you refer to and the "Less skilled" gun toter might be a potential problem at a gunshow how are they not a potential problem in a bar, or theater, or holy roller church...do they suddenly gain wisdom and skill by just changing venue...probably a distinct possibility?  Really, doesn't your response beg the question.

Same for your last sentence.  Isn't obvious why there are no shootings at a gunshow...because there are no loaded guns there!  I suspect the most ardent gun opponents would support guns for everybody as long as they could never take them anywhere in public while loaded!

I would say that if schools had a gun show everyday just outside the entrance, and civic centers had a gun show on one end every day, and etc etc etc then the crazies would not choose that place as a Sandy Hook or a San Bernardino, etc, etc.  It's not where law abiding folks take loaded guns, it is where crazies take guns!

The reason that there are no shooting is that the tables are piled with ammo and guns. It takes about 3 seconds to load.

As for the fools that attend gun shows it is ilegal to discrininate against liberals and keep them out!

Maybe we should test you fellows' theory...remove all restrictions regarding bringing loaded weapons into gun shows for one year and see if the safety record of gun shows is maintained. What do you think?

Well, yall walked right into that one.  It is safer where there are guns!

And the folks who are doing the mass shooting are not paying attention to any "restrictions", they just pay attention to their cause and safety for escape, if they are not suicidal.

Well it is certainly very safe where there lots of guns if they are not loaded...the gun sellers realize this and admit it...so does the NRA but they won' t admit it.
