This is another attempt by me to have someone explain some of the conservative thinking on issues which l simply cannot understand.  I know most of you will never accept this as an honest effort on my part, but so be it.

There is another effort underway in the GA legislature to allow the open carry of fire arms anywhere on any state college campus EXCEPT in dorms, fraternity/sorority houses and athletic events.  If carrying a firearm is a good thing in the classroom, cafeteria, gym and research labs, why are any areas exempt.  It has alway been inexplicable to me how the same legislators who passed the original open carry act, which even allows guns in bars with the the owners agreement and non-secure areas of airports, specifically exempted their own work place, the state capitol, from the open carry provision.  Why?  It doesn't make sense.

How should we know what they are thinking?  Why not ask them and report back to us?  

Either way it doesn't concern me where law abiding citizens carry weapons.  What concerns me is criminals with weapons that want to do me or my family harm.  They will be in for a big surprise when they are staring down the barrel of my 45 with hollow point bullets.

Since most of us live in a real world, I suspect most realize that the politician who introduced the bill knew these exclusions were the only way to gain support for passage of his bill.  Such is the way of politics, like it or not.  With most felons, and felons to be, (otherwise known as dimokraps) carrying illegally obtained weapons.....the real world must protect itself.

I am asking why anyone who consideres it ok to take a gun to a bar or church or supermarket or hotel would think it is not ok to take one into a college dorm?  Are you saying you disagree with the legislation as proposed?

What I am saying is that I have no idea why the legislation is written as it is. I have no problem with a law abiding citizen carrying a gun any damn where they please. But you're asking us to opine about what some else is thinking. Call them and find out yourself and quit trying to make a stupid point, if that's what you are trying to do.

You think YOU should be allowed to carry a loaded weapon anywhere "you damn well please", including onto another persons private property even over their objection.  MM, you will not be getting an invitation to my St Patricks Day party.

Well good for you.  Will all be joyful until it isn't and then you will be wishing you could protect yourself.  Not so lucky for the many others that have been the victim of crime in Atlanta.

I also have had life insurance for quite a while and have never had to use it, knock on wood.  Also have smoke and CO2 detectors in my house for the last 30 years and have never used them either.  You have these things for when you need it and hope you never do.  I see my concealed carry as exaclty the same thing.  

But hey, if you ever need help and I am near I will be sure not to offend you by pulling out my weapon.  I will be glad to provide the police with my testimony as they bag you up for transport to the morgue.
