Please read Mr. Peter Wehner's opinion piece from the NYT  on March 19.  Mr. Wehner's is a Republican who served as an advisor on ethics and policy in both Bush administrations and the Reagan administration.  I know it is no more than his opinion, but it is eye-opening and demonstrates why the GOP is unwise to gamble on Donald Trump.

OK, I read your nut's piece.  Now do you have the guts to Google Peter Wehner's and read his?

BTW: He is a regular contributor to the Weekly Standard...sure, not  a publication The Trump crowd is likely to follow, but it ain't  exactly the Daily Worker either!

Now do you have the ability to link Peter Wehner's so I may read his?

Wherever do you find this stuff?  I have to say that you come up with more crazy articles than anyone else.

This article is nothing more than a promotion for this guy's book, which I'm sure sold less than 200 copies.

For over the past 3 months, Mr. Wehner has obsessed over Trump's takeover of the Republican Party.  Read his articles.   In early January he labeled him as a reality show star with no politcal expertise, and yet in this article he is a political monster.  Which is it Mr. Wehner?   Having worked for the past 3 Republican administations, it is clear that he does not relish the change that is coming.  (Read establishment)  The fact is that Trump did not happen to the GOP overnight.  The GOP sold itself to the devil long ago and now the GOPe is realizing that he (devil) is coming to claim it .  Trump is the alternative they never imagined could arise from their control.    They are willing to throw the blame at everyone else but themselves. As much as he wants to believe that the recent GOP emulated Lincoln and Madison, but it was all a facade, invented to maintain the status quo for the establishment and keep citizen statesmen under control.  Continued blubberish from the GOPe that see their way of life vanishing before their eyes.

Please pick anything in the article and debate it.

You rock, Doc.

I'm not going there. Not because I couldn't, but as soon as I did, someone would be calling me Unchristian. Go back and read his comments and tell me how any of this makes any sense to you.

I think you are right. BTW, I think Obama grew from there too. Where are the grown ups? It's like they all got up one morning and said "I don't want to adult anymore.

Wow, you are saying the same thing I have been saying...but it appears you think it is a good thing and I think it is a very dangerous turn of events.  His synopsis of trumps "strong man authoritarian" tendancy is frighteneing!

You know, I really do believe that Trump is two people.  I think he felt that people wanted a strong man and he is that.  He's tough and he doesn't mind putting that out there.  (I had a boss that once told me, "if you want to be big, act big").  But I don't think he wants an Authortarian govenment.  I think he will stand up to Congress, I think he will be tough with other countries.  I can't really fault his plans to end our overseas military engagements - those who would criticize him haven't come up with anything that has worked so far.  And as one who has seen a lot of international agreements in my time, they usually don't have any teeth or consequences for breaking the agreement.  Anyone that has dealt with these agreements (and doesn't work for the State Department) will tell you the same thing.

People that know him personally say he is charming, mannerly and gregarious.  And he donates to a lot of charities, and donates to a lot of political campaigns, because he knows that money talks.  We need someone who lives outside of the Beltway.  People become incredibly insulated in Washington.  They don't mean for it to happen, but it does.  Thats why McConnell and company can refuse to meet with or vote on Obama's nominee for the SC. They are out of touch with the real world.

I'm not saying I hope that Trump is the nominee (although I'll take him over Ted cruz), but I don't think he is the evil, violence monger that seems to come up in anti Trump articles.

I don't think Trump is as he portrays himself either.  The problem is that most of his supporters do and when he doesn't act and deliver as they expect what happens?  He is delivering a dog whistle message that appeals to the rabble and the rabble will not be happy if they are let down yet again.  He may not be especially dangerous but his supporters may be and he is playing a dangerous game by playing to the lowest of human instincts.

What I can't fgure out is how many of his supporters are the riff -raff, or are we led to believe that by the non-stop media coverage.  If there was no media there and no one reported on it - would the skuffles and violence even happen?

It's not so much what a few are doing with their fists that bothers me.  It's what the many think they are hearing and what they are thinking in their heads that is scary!

Have you ever talked to an extreme Liberal?  Some pretty scary folks on that end too.

No surprise there.  And it will do no good for their cause. Hilary told them the right thing - they need to develop an actionable plan to get what they want, but they told her they didn't need no white woman telling them what to do.  BTW, these are the same tactics used by the Revs Jesse and Al, and to some extent, MLK.  But at least he was smart.
