Trump University

Here again is a good example of Trump’s approach to business that illustrates his methods and should tell observers something about his ethics & tactics.   Now it is true that Trump sold his name to be used by a corporation calling itself a University, and did not have day to day management responsibility.   However, he did appear as their spokesman, endorsing the product and encouraging people to sign up in return for seminars that were allegedly taught by his right-hand men in the real estate business.   It was a get-rich quick scheme.

In the end, what customers got was a high-pressure sales job that was more about getting them to max out their credit cards than learning about real estate.   Up-selling was common, motivational speakers ginned up enthusiasm but delivered very little useful content.   Students were led to believe they would either get the expert advice of Trump’s close associates or (if they dropped enough coin) get to benefit from Trump’s personal supervision.  It was a scam, and tuition was up to $35,000.

The Trump Network

Another scam.  This one sold ‘custom made’ vitamin products based on a fraudulent claim that a person’s urine sample would be analyzed and a specially designed cocktail of vitamin supplements would be created for each individual.   As it turns out, there is no science at all behind the claims and the idea that a uniquely individual daily dosing of vitamins would be created was completely baseless.   Trump appears in promotional videos urging customers to buy the ‘product’ and continue to subscribe to the service with monthly fees.  As with any multi-level marketing scheme, customers sold to other customers & made money on the subscribers they enlisted.   The Trump Network went bankrupt after a few years of raking in monthly subscriber fees for fake vitamin suppliments.

Trump’s reputation is that he made his fortune from real estate deals, but it looks like he was eagerly branching out into various marketing ploys made possible by name recognition, which he used to generate additional income for himself.   In each case, he sold his name & directly contributed to sales & marketing with no regard for the fairness of business practices involved.

And that’s the point:  Donald Trump’s world view is that if he sells you a product that is empty of value, it is your fault because you are a loser.   He does not concede that fraudulent claims are, well, fraudulent…. Because, business ethics be damned, he feels that winning is all important.

"Now it is true Trump sold his name to be used by a corporation calling it self a university and had no day to day responsibility..." So do his backers think it is OK since he was arms length?  Do they think it is acceptable for a candidate for high office to knowingly permit a scam corporation to use his name for fraudulent purposes?  Do they consider it acceptable that he would make appearances to promote this scam?  Do they think he was ethical in accepting money for these actions? Do they have any problem that he calls a judge born in Indiana a Mexican as well as a hater?  Are they OK with him saying flat out that his opponent plans to intentionally send all US jobs oversees?  Do they think it is OK for him to call reporters who simply point out the facts regarding his "veterans contributions" as losers and bad people and threaten to sue them?  Do they really think this man should be president of the United States?

Trump didn't lend his name as he owned 93% of the LLC.

"Trump University[11] was incorporated in 2004 by Trump, Sexton, and Spitalny, as a New York limited liability company.[12] Donald Trump owned 93% of the company.[13] On May 23, 2005, Trump University formally launched its education program.[2] The company's original business plan focused on online education but included live, in-person instruction as well.[4]"

It is Nov 1 and all the authorities have spoken and it is obvious Hillary will not be indicted but through release of information it has become very clear your hero Trump is up to his eyeballs in the Trump University fraud and it is obvious that the case is very tight and the plaintiffs are almost certain to prevail and there are broad hints that a Trump indictment for fraud is likely before the end of the year...of course no way you will go for Hillary, but do you still pull the lever for Trump?  You ranted about 70% of the Democrats would still vote for Hillary even if she is under indictment.  Does the same go for the Trumpsters?

Have you seen my ranting and raving over Trump....I think not.  I have stated several times that I would vote for none of the above if I thought it would help.  Unfortunately for you and your dimokrap slaves, I and most of the intelligent people in the US are very much anti-Hilda people.  I would vote for the devil, Hitler, Stalin, and a few other tyrants I could mention before I would vote for the Hilda B____h.  Got it.

Oh, and would you like to make a friendly little wager that Hilda gets an indictment??

OH, and double OH! Paul Ryan just endorsed Trump.......son of a gun......say it ain't so!!!

To date, yes, his backers always seem to come away from the evidence saying that Trump was either maligned or within his rights as a businessman to do as he did.   To me, it's not clear if this proves that Trump is a master self-promoter or if his followers are so determined to oust a Democratic administration that they would be willing to accept anything he does as 'good presidential material'.  Some of this continued support may be explained by the psycho/social concept of "reactance"... when a person's allegiance to an idea (or candidate) is actually deepened by criticism of them.   This tendency toward reactance is higher in males, who are overly concerned with being defeated anyway... so they double down when their hero is attacked.   It's totally emotional reasoning.

Upon release of the Trump University documents, he attacked the Judge ("we think he is Mexican"), and slammed the news media for covering the whole affair plus the business of his donations to Veterans causes..   That was one interesting press conference, putting on display several points about his personality.   First and foremost, he flatly threatens to be vindictive and retaliate if he assumes the office of President.     Donald will seek revenge on his enemies by the use of any means at his disposal.

On a positive note for Trump, Paul Ryan did weakly endorse him today....following yesterday's ringing endorsement by Kim Jong Un... so it appears true that Donald is truly uniting people from broad swaths of the political spectrum.  Go Donald.

Boy that clears everything up!!

Sorry Wix, but you have slopped a bibb full on this one...any way you read it you say you favor Hitler, Stalin or the Devil over Hillary.  I don't give a rat's behind whether you vote for anybody or not, but you are on record as expressing the opinion that you would prefer this nation be led by Hitler over Hillary...period.  I'm sure those dwindling members of the Greatest generation who saved the world from Der Fuherer will be sorry to learn of it.  Frankly I think you owe us all an explanation and an apology for saying something so off the wall stupid...even in jest, which I pray it was.

I do not gamble, but Hillary will not be indicted!  Herr Trump maybe.

Interesting, I had not heard of Laureate Universities before.   And it does look like Bill Clinton was paid a huge sum for participating as Honorary Chancellor.   The University has also been criticized for excessive advertising in countries other than the US, where it is barely known at all (except as Sylvan Learning Centers is its parent company).

From what I can find, it is a for-profit educational company that operates educational services in various foreign countries and has the support of a number of reputable global investors, with an apparent mission of increasing the educational opportunities of people around the world.   Its enrollment has been estimated as high as ½ million students.

Increasing educational opportunities around the world does not seem like a bad thing to do at all, and it should be noted that this company was doing so without charitable support or as part of taxpayer funded US Foreign Aid.   I would consider Bill Clinton’s honorarium to be really exorbitant, but that doesn’t put Laureate University in the same class as Trump University.   Laureate delivered programs across the educational spectrum, offered in parts of the world that really need to increase education to their citizens… while Trump University was marketing a get-rich quick real estate scheme.

Now that's some interestingly weak stuff rite there, Bubba.  Read 'em all except WSJ, and they wanted money, but didn't really see anything that would implicate Trump in any criminal activity, for sure.  He did lend his name to some multi-level marketing schemes which in retrospect was probably not the best thing he could do.  But, he didn't sell his soul to the Chinese, nor Soros, nor to the Banksters, like the Hilda B-----h did.  Now that you've lost two bets out of three with me, are you sure you can stand to lose it all.  Better get ready, cause tha Hilda B----h is goin' down!!!

for sure, but each of you who read this forum please listen to what Hillary said yesterday and to what The Donald said yesterday and today, mull both over in your brain and then look in the mirror and see if you can honestly and without bias say to yourself  "Damn, that Trump has an understanding of world affairs, an intellect, a grasp of ethics, a wisdom, a temperment, a sense of fair play, and a mental capacity and stability that make him far superior to Hillary".  If you are honest it cannot be done.  You may hate Hillary and loath her policy positions and therefore be willing to do anything to keep her from being president...that is fine and typical for politics, but please be honest enough to admit that Trump is an egotistical scam artist, huckster and complete disaster that you are willing to accept and thereby gamble your, my, the nation's and the world's future in order to deny her.

Bill Clinton's timing to end the relationship sure was interesting.  I would say this is a prime example of why people don't trust Hilary.  There are just too many shady arrangements and we don't know, what we don't know about them.

Trump's stuff is all out there for the world to see, whether you like his style or not.

But, before this election is over, I suspect that we'll be much smarter than we are now.
