No, absolutely NO, public employee or official, paid by tax dollars, should be able to take the fifth on questions about activities as a public employee.  Enough of this already.  We will never get the foxes out of the chicken coop.

Now a guy who has been given immunity wants to take the fifth.  I need a fifth!

I agree with you, public employees should not be allowed to take the 5th, for things that they did in the official capacity..  Especially when you  has been given immunity.  But is he being asked to testify as a public employee or is he being asked to testify as a private contractor to the Clintons?  If that is the case, he's probably being paid off by the Clintons to keep his mouth shut and take the 5th. 

Being close to a high level official is a dicey game.  You can't refuse to do something (if you want to keep working), and if you do what they ask you to do, you can end up in the meat grinder.  Feces flows downward.

To plead the 5th = no citizen "shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself..."

I am no legal sharpie but since he has been granted immunity there is no criminal case against him, thus the 5th does not apply, and cannot be invoked.  Not to testify would be contempt of court, which I am sure can be paid off as well

I am FED UP with the Clinton machine!!  I am FED UP with public servants hiding behind the 5th.  I am FED UP with the Govt not being able to hold folks accountable and DO SOMETHING about it.

Now wait - is he being asked to testify as a public employee or as a private individual contracted by the Clintons to set up and maintain the server?  And what has he been given immunity to?  Are there other charges pending or is he afraid that there will be other charges pending, based on whatever he says?  If he is being asked to testify as a private contractor to the Clintons and he is to testify about how he set up the server and how he maintained the server or what he saw on the server, you can bet that he is being paid big bucks by the Clintons to keep his mouth shut. 

Truthfully, there is so much we don't know.  I suspect he was a Schedule C employee at State, which is a type of political appointment, but at a much lower level, so he worked there while Clinton was SecSTate, but left when she departed. 

It is the political appointees that usually are not held legally accountable for their decisions - they are afforded the opportunity to resign. I guess they could be held criminally negligent if the WH or the Justice Department choose to prosecute them.  But that is not how Washington works.    You can bet that when I was a public employee would have fired from my job and criminally prosecuted if I did what Hilary or Patreus did with regard to classified information.

If elected, will Trump choose to prosecute political appointees for their bad decisions, or will he too be satisfied with "you're fired".

Not sure how much clean up trump will want to do.  He will have his hands full!

I guess the reason the judge wants to see the immunity agreement is to determine the guy's vulerability if he testifies.  Wow, at the amount of Fifth that gets poured on smoke surrounding current Admin and current Dem front runner.
