NATO same, same as Us Welfare.  NATO was organized primarily so the US would have a the appearance of united front for policing action in Europe.  Since WWII US has fought all policing action with minimal participation from NATO nations...and that was paid for by US.  NATO is the exact equilivant of welfare, EBT, medicaid, ETC.  Hey maybe Trump will put all the welfare dimokraps to work picking up trash on the road sides, etc.  I love it.

Hey Archie how about finding a pic off an American flag at the DNC convention. I've seen Palestinian, Russian and even isis but not an American flag anywhere.  And you've got to do better,  you haven't called me a name of any kind I  over 24 hours.  I feel like such a failure.  I may even vote Democrat and join the rest  of you losers.

Arch, I noticed you have not denied my NATO statement, nor have you attempted to prove otherwise.  NATO was, is, and will always be a gathering of do nothing countries, whose "armies" are financed by the US and whose existance is solely to support the missions of choice of the US.  Name one effort made by NATO to do anything about anything that was not started by, organized by, financed by, and completed by the US.  If you can't then shutup.

Oh, BTW tell us how well prepared and knowledgeable NATO forces were during the Czechoslovakia invasion by Russia during August 1968, at the height of the cold war.  The CG of NATO, a US General heard on the radio that 250,000 troops, 5,000 troops, and hundreds of aircraft had invaded less than 80 miles from where I was located.  NATO was asleep as usual.

Obviously you have not been watching much of the DNC.  The colors are presented at the start of sessions, the national anthem is sung, and there is an American flag affixed to each state banner.  The backdrop behind the podium is an electronic wonder that can project all sorts of images including the American flag and videos of Donald Trump mocking a disabled citizen, saying John McCain is no hero and statements degrading women.  It also showed moving images of the husband killed in Iraq as well as his widow who tried to better herself by investing $36,000 of her military death benefits in "Trump University"...she lost every dime and got nothing useful for the money!!  Your saviour is a really class act don't you think Lifer? Now, just to make you happy, you are pathetic!

You are pathetic too!  Now, you do realize NATO is committed to the defense of OTHER NATO members only don't you?  Can you grasp that principal or is it a bit above your mental capacity. In 1968 Czechoslovakia WAS NOT a member of NATO. Neither was Hungary in 1956. In fact they were each members of the Soviet's counter to NATO called the Warsaw Pact.  Ukraine is not a member today, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are and Estonia, at least, has invested more than the called for 2% of GDP on defense.  NATO is not a welfare system and if you think it is you are even dumber than I thought!  Putin-Trump 2016

I'm a long way away from the lake tonight...but have been watching both conventions.  Tonight, I'm proud of Bernie Sanders, proud to support Hillary and especially proud to be a Democrat.  I am seeing the stars and stripes in this crowd....but more importantly I'm seeing and hearing people talking about a positive message of hope and progress,. And policies being described...not just shallow showbiz rhetoric.   That's certainly different from the anger and fear mongering that characterized the Trump Convention.

OK! Let's go through this very simply.  No, none of the "then" Soviet bloc countries were in NATO.  But, NATO had troops lined up along the German border to protect the NATO Alliance countries from a possible Soviet invasion....I was one of those troops, and I was in a position to know what was going on.  My point is......read closely now......Russia ++ invaded a country with 250,000 troops, armor, and aircraft about 80 miles from our location and NATO authorities DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT OR GET ANY ADVANCE WARNING.....they heard about it the next morning along with us peons.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND??  Russia could have invaded our position just as easily as they did Czech....My point is, NATO was useless then and it still is.  The US policy has made NATO countries as dependent on the USA as dimokrap welfare slugs are....same relationship.....GOT IT.  Sorry I caused you to have seizures and go into a liberal panic mode.

Copper, I consider myself an Independent rather than a Democrat (even though as the years go by I find fewer and fewer Republicans I can support) and I am frankly no fan of Hillary and wish the ticket was reversed.  That being said, I appreciate and agree with your comments and am hoping and praying a lot of other people are paying attention to this convention and paid attention lst week.  Donald Trump is a disgusting and frightening ego driven blowhard who will take this wonderful nation places it should never go!

Do you acknowledge that neither in 1968 nor any other year since the establishment of Nato the Soviets did NOT go over the borders into any NATO country, do you acknowledge that that just might be because of the Nato shield and do you acknowledge that in 1968 you just might not have been privy to the intellegence that the command staff might have had...oh forgive my assumption, were you a part of the Nato headquarters command staff? God, I hope not!!
