Over the last couple of years several polls ahve been taken which have between 43% and 54% of Republicans believing President Obama is a Muslim.  A poll in May of this year showed 67% of Trump supporters believe Obama is a Muslim (59% do not believe he was born in the USA).

Now, Barack Obama is definitely not what the average white southern protestant church goer thinks of when they describe a ''good  Christian'' but he calls himself a Christian and has had what appears to be a very good marriage and only one at that.  Donald Trump is even less in that southern Christian tradition,...he has had 3 marriages, admits to extramarital hanky panky, uses gutter language in public, says he cannot think of anything for which he ever needed to ask God's forgivness, says stupid stuff about the Bible when he should simply say he is not that familiar with scripture, claims he is antiabortion when until a couple of years ago he made it clear that he considered abortion a basic right, and still openly supports gay rights.  Nevertheless he has the overwhelming backing of evangelicals.  Now I can see them hating Hillary but have a hard time understanding their rather enthusiastic backing for Trump.

Using the above as background, please will one of you evangelicals out there explain yourselves...why do you think Obama is a Muslim worthy of your disdain and why do you think Trump is a Christian worthy of your support (by that I do not mean your vote, that is something else completely, but your enthusiastic and loud verbal backing)?

Why do you continue to ask the same stupid question?  Normal people hate o-BAMMIE and THE HILDA B......H because they are socialist, not because of some PC krap you might try to contrive, so save your time, we're not racists or muslim haters.

*dimokraps = idiots (my effort at PC for copper-krap, lng, and hodj)

I have never believed that Obama is a Muslim.   But to answer your question, it doesn't bother me, because I consider religion to be an extremely personal thing and as the Pope says "who am I to judge?"  Trump will have to answer for himself at the Pearly Gates, but it is not up to us to judge him.  He's hardly the first person to have an extramarital affair, 3/4 of the population uses "bad words" in public, and his 3 marriages are between him and his wives.

It's only a problem for me if he was touting family values, and I haven't seen those words from him.

When are you gonna learn to construct your posts so you can successfully ask trap questions??  You're dealing with smart people here....this ain't Facebook!

I'm really amazed by how much support he seems to be getting from the Christian right.  I get they dislikeHillary.   But Trump's behavior has been completely counter to the church raising I had, you might say.   Suddenly, a lot people seem to be taking a "I'm forgiving him for past sins" approach to Trump.   OK, forgive him.  That is the Christian thing to do.

Just don't forget him, don't  forget who his is and what he has said he will do.

What you fail to realize is that intelligent people have a real hatred for the socialism of o-BAMMIE and THE HILDA B.  TRUMP's basket is filling up fast with unhappy dimokraps!!

We are not electing the Pope. We need someone in power who apperciates American values and is a successful manager. Hillary has nothing but shady deals and wreckage in her past. Please name one of her accomplishments.

Reciently I heard some wild eyed lefty bragging that with ome more supreme court judge, they have wone.  That, if for no other reason, is why we simply must vote for trump!

Clinton has the track record I would want.... she was active in the civil rights movement, worked on children's issues & legal advocacy to oppose re-segregation of public schools.   Was a successful attorney.   As First Lady, she headed up the first large scale attempt to reform the US health system... years later, these ideas continued to be discussed and became the Affordable Care Act.   As a Senator, she pushed for compensation & additional health care protections for 9/11 responders.   As Secretary of State, she became well schooled in the details of complex global issues and international relations....  She is knowledgeable about world affairs in a way that Trump is not.   She is experienced with the complexity of making large scale decisions in a really diverse country like ours.

Trump is a better real estate salesman and TV star than she is, but ....he is a mile wide & an inch deep.

I do not understand support for him in light of his past reputation.....or how local people could go from scoffing at this New York Dandy who was despised for being arrogant & spoiled back then... to electing him President mainly because they admire his how rich he is and think this will make him a great leader of the free world.

He has absolutely no experience that would qualify him for the job he is wanting.   IMO, his lack of experience makes him dangerous, like handing your drunken uncle a loaded gun or giving a child permission to play with matches and gasoline.

It's not up to us to judge Trump?  I cannot more strongly disagree!  It is absolutely critical that we judge both candidates and based on how Trump thinks (judges) of Mexicans, Immigrants, war heros, Federal judges, Vladimir Putin, Gold Star parents, unattractive women, generals, opposition candidates, campaign staff members, disabled reporters, employees, business competititors, and absolutely anybody who happens to disagree with him, I judge him to be completely unfit to even be considered for president!  Hound, why in he!! shouldn't you judge him?  He certainly judges (mis-judges???) everybody else and their little brother!!

But, let me offer an answer as to exactly why so many of those around you and me are rushing to support this egotistical brash business bully and profane narcissist that we would ask to leave our homes if he dared demonstrate the same attitudes under our eaves...he has that (R) after his name.  Most of the south has become so engrained to hate Democrats that they have become the modern day yellow dogs of party politics.  Ask any Trump supporter to honestly tell you if there is ANY person running as a Democrat they would support over ANY other person running as a Republican.  Ill guess you will get few willing to answer honestly.  If by some stroke of devine intervention Clinton was the GOP candidate and Trump was the Democrat, they would be defending and probably praising Hillary and calling for Trump to be jailed!

using you very best effort at brevity, please compare o-BAMMIE's experience prior to his coronation with TRUMP's experience on this date.

i know, I know, o-BAMMIE is not running, but we're talking about prior experience level here.

I don't find your admiration for Hillary does anything to sway my thoughts about her in a positive way. She is a chronic liar and will never change as long as she doesn't have to face any negative consequences. It seems the more she lies the more she gets away with it, and the more she thinks she is invincible. The accomplishments you use to justify her qualifications for President fail io impress me. The point you make about her initial action on national healthcare which finally resulted in the Affordabe Care Act(which is a disaster)  is just another misstep by the federal government trying to solve a problem by forcing its passage through the use of lies and misrepresentations. As Pelosi said, "you have to pass it to know what's in it". The fact that she has served four years in an administration that is built upon"lies" just gives her more ammunition to continue her "legacy" of "lies". You make reference to her being well schooled in the details of complex global issues and international relations. If you call providing favors to foreign governments in return for their contributions to the "Clinton Foundation", she is "well schooled" in what's good for the Clintons' instead of what's good for America. You also say she is experienced with the complexity of making large scale decisions in a really diverse country like ours. If you call making decisions like having our soldiers who were standing by to go Benghazi to change uniforms so we would not embarrass the Syrians, we don't need that kind of experience. We don't need another President, who like Obama, is afraid that we will hurt someones "feelings".

Before you flip out, I said not judge his behavior in religious terms.   It's voters job to determine his suitability for office, not his personal life, not whether or not he believes in God or goes to church, or has affairs, mulitple marriages.  That has nothing to do with how his vision for the country.

I have to admit that I don't agree with that Clinton is a constant, blithering liar.   She is, however, a lawyer.  And she has been investigated, deposed, examined and attacked by various political forces enough to be declared the most public life on the planet.    No prosecutions, no convictions.

And if you want someone more hawkish that Obama, she is that.

If your claim that Hilda's hawkishness refers to the trail of death that follows the Clinton's political enemies, I would have to agree.

OK... briefly.    Obama was active in local community politics, organizing people to improve their neighborhoods, communities and cities in Illinois.   He was a Professor and taught Constitutional Law for many years.   He was elected and served as a US Senator.   He was eventually elected and served as President.  he grew up making a real contribution to improving society by being personally active and committed to helping people.   His adult life was pretty much devoted to public service work.   We all know smart attorneys can make more money, much easier money in about a million other ways... Obama choose not to use his education just to make a lot of money for himself.

Trump was born on 3rd and has been telling people he hit a triple all his life...  He spent his youth and adulthood as a jetsetting socialite with a big mouth.   The tabloids were his main showcase back then.    His primary reputation was based on being selfish, egotistical and completely unconcerned about social issues .....He was (and in my opinion, still is) a male Paris Hilton.    And he gloried in his reputation, he flaunted and marketed himself with it.    He made boat loads of money in a limited but fast growing sector of the economy, however his business practices only proved to his partners, bankers, and investors that he was ruthlessly willing to throw anyone under the bus for money.  Many of the world’s financiers  would never do business with him again,  but he now has diversified.  We should pay attention to some of the  new ways he has tried to make money. recently.

The thing is that so many people in this part of the country have been using the christian litmus tests for candidates for so many years.... that it is amazing to hear them saying those things don't matter anymore in their voting choices because they feel so threatened.   And feeling hopeless, they are going with Trump to save them from............ whatever....?   I do not get it.    Is it because so many Christians honestly fear Obama is a Muslim?   So many Christians think their way of life is under attack, some really believe the Muslims are coming for us....

Don't worry everyone.   Clinton is probably just a Presbyterian.

I have never thought that Obama was a Muslim. And yes, Copperline, the Muslims are coming for you.  Their religion requires intolerance of the Infidels, so if you are not a Muslim you have the choice to become one or die.  Now I am sure there are middle of the road Muslims who don't live strictly by the Koran and don't wish to harm anyone.  You need only to read the Koran, to figure out that it is not a religion of peace.  Perhaps you don't think I am sophisticated and enlightened by my remarks, but I have made many trips to the Middle East. They neither like or respect us, because we are Infidels.
